  • Air Filter/MPG when thrashing car

Hello everyone, I am new to the DS3 Club!

Just bought a 1.6 THP 155 D-Sport Plus, love it!

    got a few questions though.

I have got an extended warranty on the car for 3 years so think i can rule out doing a remap on the car even though i want to
do you think I could get a new panel air filter for it? pipercross/k&n etc? and would it be worth it. even if its hardly a power a gain would it sound better?

also my last car was an Audi A3 1.8T sport and i used to thrash that al the time and still get 26 - 27 mpg. whereas if i thrash the ds3 it is reallllllllly low! is that normal? but i'v been driving it nice recently and got 34 mpg+.

il post some pictures for you all to have a look at soon aswell.

    Thanks and peace!

    Welcome to the club

Remap will void almost all warranties if they find it. Filter will add a maximum of 4bhp though it won't be noticeable.

How low is really low? Mine will go down to 9mpg on the live display when accelerating onto the bypass / motorway. Back when I used to do a lot of spirited weekend drives, I averaged around 25mpg when thrashing it down Snake Pass but overall average was usually around 35mpg.

I do a lot more motorway miles now so it's usually closer to 42mpg.

      Thanks

I think I am just comparing it to my Audi which was fairly good on fuel for an 18 year old car when going for it it still managed about 26 - 27, I think this would be around 20 mpg doing a similar drive.

there is a Pipercross filter for £35 from their shop site, will it sound better?

I'l have to leave the remap then, i have done the car on a personal loan over 5 years, but i think i might change in 3 years to either a Fiesta ST or a Focus ST dependant on what money I have at the time.

You must be thrashing it to get it down to 20mpg average, too much traffic near me to get that!

Not sure about the sound tbh, I doubt it would be much different unless you put a cone filter on.

Well to be honest since i've moved to this car I'm far more chilled driving it just because its an £8000 car rather than a 500 quid Audi haha.

do any of you know if you can get Citreon to fit a sat nav to the car even though it is a 2011 car?

and is it fairly simple to change the headunit in the car? it's the only ugly thing is the car, just doesn't really fit in with how nice everything else is and then that looks like a cd player from an old Renault or something haha.

Cone filter will lose me power though won't it from hot air entering the engine as opposed to cold air.

Yes but it's expensive, you'd be better off getting a TomTom (or similar).

Should be no more difficult than any other headunit swap, I think you need a Connects2 adaptor if you want to retain use of the stalk controls.

I don't know tbh, someone more knowledgeable can comment I'm sure.

My 2010 DSport is mapped and modded to 200bhp and returns 48-50mpg at 70 - 80mph on the motorway. Normal driving in town (20 - 40mph) gets me nearer 32 - 35mpg.
