Buying a DS3

Hi guys and girls,

I'm in the market for a DS3. I had one brand new on a 12 plate (Dstyle Plus 90bhp hdi), had it for 2 years put 65k on the clock and sold it last October. Had 2 cars since then and have decided I want to go back to the DS3 as it was world class.

I know there are a few of you on here that have had a few.

What sort of price should I be looking to pay. Am I right in wanting a 12 plate, was there much improvements on later versions. Don't mind not having bluetooth, can the DS3 take a double din?

It can take a double din, a company got in touch with me on instagram and said they would email me.... I'll chase them

If you can, you might as well get a plus pack, its always nice to have a few extras. This was on the Dstyle and Dsport.

I'm looking for a dstyle plus as a minimum, possibly the dsport plus and want the 1.6 diesel (either the 90 in the Dstyle or the 110 in the dsport)

Had a quick look on AT, find a DStyle Plus 90 1.6hdi for £7500 with 40k on the clock, needs serviced in 1800 miles though. Whats people takes on that? does it sould like a good price?

Second question, how do you tell if it has automatic lights and automatic wipers?

Third question, I know it's an MOT fail but, the DPF I want gone. How difficult of a job is it? I know that on the MOT it's only a visual inspection so can Cut the top open and weld there.

If your rear view mirror mount has the a rain sensor, you should have auto lights & wipers. If the mirror is thin and basic, you don't.

As Beefmasta says, you;ll be able to tell visually by the mirror mount.

For automatic light use the left stork - turn it one click towards you.
For automatic wipers use the right stork - push it up one click. You get an image appear when automatic wipers are on in your dash area.

Auto lights: Twist the left stalk to 'AUTO'.
Auto wipers: Push the right stalk down once.

I'm pretty sure I press my wiper stalk down to activate the auto wipers Pete ? Will check tonight on the way home....

You're right. It's down to turn on. Up one click then down again to turn off.

Pointless, the gain you get is very marginal. The other thing to consider is the system will still continue to squirt fluid into the pipe and will fill up the section removing any gain you got, plus you will have the Emission light on the dashboard meaning it would fail any way.

Yeah, both will be getting mapped out. Not looking for gains in performance removing both, just looking to get the running clean. Have you ever seen the state of an EGR Valve on the inside after 20k miles... Not a good thing.

Found an awesome double din, just need to get the adapter stuff that puts the AC at the bottom and the double din between the AC and small screen.
