Clicking Clutch Pedal

Hi everyone, I have a 1.6hdi , over the last week or so, when I push down on the clutch it sometimes feels like something is clunking, not every time, just sometimes, it almost feels like the cable is caught on something then it clicks as it gets pushed down further,
Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Have you looked around the pedals to see if anything is catching at the back/top of the clutch pedal ? If not the only time I experienced similar was way back when the clutch cable on an older car was fraying, it eventually snapped and left me stranded
