  • Anyone seen this before?

I've had the car 5 days but only spotted this issue this evening (it's less obvious than on this close up!).

The aircon temp control knob/surround is not fitted properly, it's recessed and slightly loose.

Any idea how easy a DIY job is to fix?

Looks like a warranty job to me!

Don't attempt a DIY fix or they'll say you broke it...

Go back to the dealer and they will fix it for you, there may be a broken lug behind the control switch which may mean you need a new dash part. Expect a wee wait if that is the case as that kind of part will normally go on back order.

OK thanks. Ball-ache though, not only the goin back / leavin it with them / killin time but also it will delay the replacement head unit being fitted because if they see the dash has been fiddled with in that area they'll probably say it was that, rather than the real cause which is some fcuk-wit in the factory doing a piss-poor job.

True, it could be robots but my money is the dash assembly being a human hands job.

Coincidentally the auto-electrician is coming tomorrow to spec out the job. I may ask him to whiz out the head unit and see if there is access to this area.

It looks to me like a simple push job to slot it back in.

                          Yeah it's a White.

Slipped the head unit out to see if it was fixable but the knob would not slot back in. Didn't want to force it.

So off to the dealer Saturday morning.

Let us know if they fix it under warranty (as they should off course)

OK, so I "dropped in" this morning as they asked so they could have a look at it. After waiting an hour while they found someone to look at it, they said they couldn't fix it there and then and I've now booked it in with them for the day next Friday.

So, it will be 2 trips back to the garage in 2 weeks. Which is exactly the type of thing getting a new car was meant to prevent.

Still love the car to bits but this has put a bit of a dampener on it.
