New DS3 launch! 19th January 2016

Oh god! I hadn't seen any pictures/renders of the new face with the old/cheaper headlights. That's just a horrible frankensteinian combination! I thought the old headlights would be gone now?

Its all I could find online *shrug*

I'd go so far as to say I prefer the front of the new DS3 to the Fiesta.

Is the Fiesta set to get a facelift in 2017? Think I read something online about it.

And Joni, I bawled my eyes out when my Dad shaved his beard off, and refused to go anywhere near him! I was only about a year old at the time though

Yeah, you know when a dog is sat next to you looking at your lunch but not looking at your lunch? I was a bit like that last night. That I didn't get a chance to look properly with all the sharing, posting tweeting etc last night!

My Dad did it for Movember a few years back. I can still remember it so vividly -_- I think my Mum gave him the silent treatment until it grew back!

This is a very disappointing, almost bodged, facelift that poorly combines two different design philosophies. I think 2016 will be the year I'll be saying goodbye to my DS3 and DS Automobiles.

Actually, I don't mind this at all, so each to his own! Then again, after an initial longing for the new headlights I began to like the simple chunkiness of the original ones which match the rest of the DS3 design.

Joni has brought up several very valid points in her post above (number 40), including all of her last paragraph!

I have to agree with you there, I personally think the new design looks a lot better with the old headlights. I guess that just brings us back to the point about there being too many conflicting design philosophies at play.

I've been thinking about it and in all honesty the new design doesn't look too bad. I just wouldn't spend my money on one of those.

If I'd gone down the route of getting another DS3 over my Merc this year I'd be rushing to my dealer to order the old spec before it goes out of production!

They wanted to give the DS3 a "DS" identity to distance it from Citroen. The car's near the end of its production life so there was no point in putting engineering effort into the facelift or spending big money on tooling up fornew parts which would only have a shortish production run; on that basis, they have done a reasonable job.

I'll judge it when I see one in real life, but the photos don't make me want to rush out & buy one.

One or two odd details. The "whiskers" at the bottom of the grill don't seem to match up with the bodywork behind them. Why does the front need two DS badges?

Will DS ultimately succeed as a standalone prestige brand? It's a difficult thing to pull off - Lexus has managed it, but Infiniti & Acura aren't exacly household names. Being French will be seen by many as a definite minus. . .

I've done some colours too. But doesn't sit well - too much going on. I doubt they'll be another red/pink etc edition!
