  • Insurance?

Can anyone recommend any good insurers for Young Drivers?

The main driver would be my girlfriend, 20years old, driving for 1yr 10months with 2 years no claims.

Cheapest is £1200 with Diamond at the minute (for the THP DSport)

    Any suggestions would be great

Is she looking for "any driver" or with you as a named driver? and have you tried Adrian Flux as they will give a discount to Full DS3club members (that is paid membership, not the free membership)

Admiral, Elephant or Bell probably, try using some of the comparison websites such as go compare or compare the market.

Try adding an older driver as a named driver to reduce premiums.

Be very careful with the insurance, not all companies like the owner of the car not being the policy holder, and getting a parent to insure the car for you isn't always a good idea as most companies have got wise to that dodge

It's called 'fronting' and you can face a huge fine and even a prison term as it's insurance fraud.

£1200 is a lot of money for insurance, not considered one of the smaller engines?

Swiftcover quoted me £160 (max ncd, age 64, relatively crime-free area) for a DSport 110HDI.
Didn't include NCD protection, legal fees etc.

Me and the wife, S&D and she drives onto a military base for work - £300 with £100 excess.

                        Thanks for the replies everyone!

Yeah, She would be the policy holder, and she would be the car owner too!

joeking27, I think Admiral, Bell, Elephant and Diamond are the same company now, Diamond has however come up the cheapest of those.

Her first driving year we added my mother as a named driver, she has full years driving & no claims.. but adding her on now seems to increase it for some reason

Bigfeet, she's been driving a 1.4 for nearly 2 years now, and the cheapest thats been quoted is £992 so even if we end up paying £1200 I think it'll still be worth it for something a little livelier

Dangerousfish, Swiftcover won't touch us because of our age I think the minimum may be 21

I'll give AdrianFlux a try and I'll report back!

                        Thanks again!
