  • Headlight bulb advice

    Hi Guys,

just a quick one. Just had both of my Osram Nightbreaker bulbs go this morning and want to know what everyone has used and would recommend.
    i really want something that is 5000k - 10000k
The Nightbreakers were very good however Osram have advised me that they are now not making them any longer.

    and options appreciated

I used Nightbreaker Plus for a while, but bulbs kept blowing. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/ give a years warranty on all their bulbs, but couldnt be bothered in changing them time after time. I then changed to MTEC bulbs which are whiter but standard power.

just Sold the DS3 and havent bothered as yet to upgrade the headlights, though they are a projector type i will probably got for something similar again.

Has anyone tried the led headlights yet? http://www.horizonleds.co.uk/

I have the MTec Super White bulbs in my car. They are pretty bright for a halogen bulb, however they don't light the road up as much as nightbreakers.

One of my Nightbreaker Plus dipped beam bulbs died a month or so ago - I got five years out of it, so I can't complain.

I replaced both the dipped bulbs with Philips X-treme Vision+. There's a small but noticeable improvement over the Nightbreakers.

Is there a noticeable difference in the Philips and the standard bulbs in the DS3? I put Nightbreakers in my Mini and didn't find much difference when driving, they looked whiter but didn't seem to light the road up much more.

The Nightbreakers made big difference. I found the OE dipped beams very patchy; the Nightbreakers filled in the gaps. The Philips are just a bit brighter. I also found that on main beam the Nightbreakers illuminate 20 metres or so further down the road - I haven't changed them yet.
