  • De-badging

I have a 2011 Yellow DS3 and am thinking about taking off "Citroen" from the back, leaving the "DS3" badging.

With the car approaching 5 years old and the inherent nature of yellow paint fade, will I be left with dark yellow where the Citroen lettering was or do you think I would get away with it?

    Any help would be great.

Depends how well the paint has been looked after.

Could always take it off and give it a polish or T-cut to brighten it back up?

Do you think that would hide anything that could be left behind?

I'm super OCD with the car and I've polished, waxed it etc. plenty since I bought it last April, but before that it was a demonstrator and I have no clue how often it was washed.

Can't remember the year exactly. But I think earlier models had holding pins for the DS badge

yeah from what I understand the "Citroen" bit was glued on and the "DS" bit pinned?

I'm gonna leave the DS bit and remove Citroen hopefully

I dont think you will have issue with paint fade as it laqured like most modern cars nowadays. Older cars painted in solid colours didnt have a clear coat so would fade in the sun. I work in a bodyshop and you rarely see colours fade anymore and have de badged plenty as well with no issues

                Thread hi jack....

But I'm right in thinking on the 2015 model you can debadge everything apart from the big DS on the back?

Yes agree with Simon, I also work in a bodyshop and it's highly unlikely that it will be faded and all cars are laqured. these new cars for the past 10years + are a 100 times better than what they use to be, acrylic lacquers and enamels were single-stage paints, meaning that these paint jobs weren’t even protected by a clear top coat when they use to fade. Much better paint nowadays!

The DS will come off on that they stopped using locating pins at some point.
