  • argh locking wheel nut problem

yesterday found a nail in my tyre so went to get it sorted to be told sorry mate we cant get your wheel off cause theres a problem with your nuts......ooooeeeerrrrrr i thought wtf, apparently the locking nut has 4 pins in it,well mine didn't have any...went to dealership in derby to be told we don't carry spares so we cant get it off either....we can do 1 of 2 things for you.
option 1 was to chisel the wheel nut off for you but sorry we can guarantee to not damage the wheel
    or
option 2 we will have to order you a new one

so ive chosen option 2 which will take 7-10 days to arrive....

very frustrated they didn't have a master until he said theres approx. 100.000 combinations for the nuts so I guess I can understand.

so if your locking nut is missing pins then you may not be able to get your wheel off.

Try the Wheelnut Man. He's amazing. https://www.facebook.com/TheWheelNutMancouk/?fref=ts
Hubby had a problem on his Volvo. Bristol Street Derby said 'no way it's coming off'. An independent had a go and had no luck. Within 5 minutes the Wheelnut Man had it off without any damage to the wheel whatsoever.

BTW, I removed mine a few weeks ago and replaced them with non-locking. I had no trouble getting mine off - they looked like they'd never been touched and luckily weren't overtightened.

My locking nuts don't have pins, they have a weird pattern in the head that the key part of the nut fits into.....

I did however have this issue on my Astra a while back when the locking nut had been done up so tight the key pins broke trying to undo it. Luckily the Vauxhall dealer had a box of spares, they found one that was close, hammered it onto the locking nuts and undid them manually.... I also had the spare bolts from new so just refitted those and left the locking nuts off.

      Good luck

The nut has a set of pins which fit into the "weird pattern" on the head of the wheel bolts.

You could try following a guide from here:

            http://www.jamesandtracy.co.uk/howto...ut_removal.htm

Alternatively, speak with your dealer and see if they can order a new key for you.

A dealer may be able to identify the correct key from the VIN or other information stored in Citroen's system.

I'd advise going to your dealer and getting them to remove the lock nuts.

Yeah apologies, I was confusing the Citroen locking key for one of my previous keys..... That reminds me I'm going to look for new wheel nuts on Amazon to replace the 4 locking ones, too much effort for my liking....
