They may also want to look at getting their email marketing right in the future, looks like they're stuck in Google's spam filter.

Anyway I have to say I'm really not sold by this campaign, granted I'm not the target audience but I can't help feel that this advert would have worked a lot better by using a personality the British audience actually recognise and can connect with?

As an owner I love my DS3 but if I was looking afresh the current ad would put me off - if DS want to attract women to the brand fair enough this ad does that in spades....

Not sure why you're all bothered by an advert in all honesty.

On another note though, mazda did a cracking advert:

I think its more something to discuss as opposed to being bothered by it.

              *sigh*

I think we are all getting carried away here....

The standard line of of DS 3 is marketed towards female buyers because they are the majority buyer.

The Performance models are going to be marketed at all you manly men with big blokey beards, have large gentleman vegetables, quaffed barrels of ale and grunt/fart everywhere. Expect to see beautiful girls and moody men with stubble sitting in the dark with dry ice pumped about the place.

Can we now give the dog back it's bone?

I suppose. I can get your disappointment though. It's nice when you see a car advert that you like. But there seem to be a lot of people saying it would put them off buying one and I wouldn't go that far.

The vid I posted above shows imo how companies can make a decent advert.

I agree with you as much as i think the advert is garbage it would come down to what i wanted to do not what the advert suggests. But yes it is nice if your car can be seen in the light you want as reflected by things like TV ads.

I don't think I've ever bought a car on the strength of an advert but an engineering lead company has more material for advertising that an enthusiast forum would enjoy. Citroen couldn't do that it would prefer people to forget what it was building 20 years ago..mainly as it still uses the same components now.

Tbf best advert of recent times was done by a company I dislike:

Would not go down well on mumsnet but in the cinema it was amazing...

That R8 advert says all it needs to say .. pretty incredible! Less is more perfect example!, unfortunately i think Citroen would struggle to make the same effect work :lemon:

I have never bought a car on the strength of an advert either but I can be put off by one and I think this is a good example of what would put me off considering a car. As previously mentioned VW do a good job with the Golf and even Vauxhall show you some of the features the Corsa has, this just shows the car as an old ladys fashion accessory.

If they spent more money and time on decent metals(without corrosion ) and a bit of training on their customer care rather than some old duffer in big specs the cars would sell themselves.

Not sure how many others of you have got it but I had the booklet through my door today and apart from the very very obviously flipped car interior the booklet is perfect. It screams style, and uses eye-catching close-ups of the car to sell the product relegating Iris to the front and back pages with a few quotes thrown in. This is how the TV & YouTube pre-roll ads should have been!!!

Rather agree the reasons for me never darkening a Citroen or Peugeot showroom door again once this car is gone have nothing to do with Iris...

I saw this add after ironically buying my DS3 and I was like "who is she", somehow my Dad being middle class had an interview with her in the Financial times and I sort of solved the confusion.

I guess they wanted to be trendy and getting a fashion designer to market it. But seriously a designer who is literally old enough to be the DS3's target demographic's grandmother is a bit odd.

I don't know what planet Citroen's marketing dept is on at the moment to be honest, like why are they spinning off one of the most successful designs into a non Citroen brand? I mean it doesn't work for Fiat, the Abarth 500 is always the Fiat 500 Abarth, the DS3 will always be the Citroen DS3. Maybe if the PCA group stopped competing with each other (like the 107 and C1) and maybe have Peugeot for the cheap and cheerful (which is how they are seen in the UK) and have Citroen for the quirky and flashy cars it would make more sense.
