  • Ds3 1.6 vti fuel filter

    Hi all,

I hope this isn't the wrong section to post in, I've literally just joined. My question is pretty simple, where is the fuel filter located on this model of vehicle? 2010 DS3 1.6 VTI. I have spent some time today trying to figure out where it is but I couldn't.

Also, how easy of a job is it to change the fuel filter?

Not sure myself, but I'll give this a bump so it's in the recent posts feed again

Pretty sure it differs country to country, as to whether there is an in-tank filter only or an external one too.

The fuel filter on mine (thp) is on the driver's side, just in front of the rear wheel... I think I'm remembering that correctly anyway, sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.

Hi all I'm new here and have the same question. Just got a 2012 1.6 vti for my daughter and wanted to start by giving it a full service but i cannot find the fuel filter it's not near rear wheel arch and i looked for a few minutes and sounds dumb but i just couldn't see it lol
Hoping one of you guys can point me in the right direction...... Also if you've any vehicle specific knowledge of the following niggles, brakes look all good but very slow speed squeal (no grinding) and an subtle, intermittent ticking noise from engine bay.

Glad to meet you all and chat soon
        Andy

Added some service info to your thread

          Hints and tips
The Vti loves oil, so don't be alarmed if it gets through more than you would expect. So might be worth giving your daughter a quick how to re topping it up It also takes a few drives for the warning low oil beep to stop after a top up (if the warning light comes on before)
The Exhaust bracket commonly corrodes, but this is easily fixed rather than replaced.
Brakes, commonly they will stick and clunk in the wet. Grinding is normal after being parked up, goes away after a few stops/applying the brakes
Check the glove box has both rubber stoppers - this is an annoying rattle that's easy to cure
The Vti engine is a bit ticky. Mine was, and got louder as she got older but having compared engine noises with Wes when he had the Vti, it was normal. But worth checking the oil and timing chain.

Not all VTi's drink oil! Mine is doing better than 5,000 miles/litre - extrapolating from the dipstick reading probably nearer 8,000 or even more. Oil consumption has improved with age - it was about 3,000 miles/litre when new (currently on 43,000).

Brakes sticking/grinding in wet weather is not unique to the VTi or any DS3 - it's normal for any car with disc brakes!

But it is something I see asked about a lot in here and facebook, so worth a mention.

Tbf they seem to be quite a low quality set of discs and pads from factory probably not helped by Citroen saving a few quid a car and not fitting back plates.

Both our cars stood for 2 weeks with the handbrake on (with hindsight that may have been a poor decision) while me and the wife went on a fortnight holiday last year.

The Mazda was grindy for the 1st 200 yards but then all the discs cleaned up and it was fine. The Citroen rear discs had pitted in the same time and ended up scored (rear wheels were orange with the rust coming off them) so were replaced at the service after only 10k usage. Thankfully we gave the bill to the lease company as the total bill for that service including warranty repairs came to over 1500 quid.

Also oil usage at 1l to 5000 is still oil usage, you are right to draw attention to it. It's far better than someone lunching their engine because they've previously had a car that didn't use any oil or require top ups and are out of the habit of checking it.

My DS3 is only my second ever brand new car. Before my 2007 C4 (also new), I had a series of second hand cars of varying ages. I cannot remember the last time I had to top up the oil in between annual services on any car before this one (in fact, the C4 was serviced every TWO years - still with no oil added in between).
I do about 26,500 miles a year and am topping up with a litre of oil at around the mid-point between services. I make that about 3,250 mles per litre of oil, absolutely atrocious for an engine that's only done 26,500 miles from new.

It's all a matter of perspective. Want to see REAL oil consumption? Buy a TwinSpark Alfa. . . 1000 miles/litre is an exceptionally good one!

Or a Mazda RX-8, since the oil is injected into the combustion chamber!

I find this on www.etuners.gr for DS3 THP: ''European versions have a filter built into the fuel pumps housing and it cannot be replaced.''
                        Is that correct?
