2012 DS3 155hp?

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a Citroen DS3 with 155hp. The car has been registered in 2013 but I believe it was manufactured the previous year in 2012. I have read countless threads here about it's engine problems and needs of rebuild. Is it truly such a risk with this car? The model I am looking at has done only 15 000kms. Would it be already showing signs if it had indeed a faulty engine?
To be honest I am a little worried about buying a Citroen as everyone says the typicall "don't buy any french car". Are they really that much prone to breaking down or electrical failures then other car manufactures?
Also how is the real life fuel consumption of the DS3? I would be driving mainly on urban roads and not in the city. At first glance the 6.7l average seems a bit high but only city driving looks to take quite a bit petrol compared to other cars that I have been looking at. If anyone has any tips on what else I should be careful about this car it would be greatly appreciated.

There are quite a few THP owners on here so I will let them respond to your questions As a diesel eHDi owner I can say that my driving/owning experience has been really good, small niggles sorted under warranty and no major issues at all.

Take everything with a pinch of salt re the 'French Car' thing. I'm sure every brand has had a fault or breakdown in their history, it's just now we are more vocal about it becuase we can express it all online. Plus it's handy that Citroen can be changed to Sh*troen..... -_-

The Ferrari 458 Italia had a habit of catching fire, so it won't be that bad

The 155 has been a better engine, but no engine has ever been fault free. Just the diesel has had better odds. If I hadn't been here for 6 years and kept up to date with the THP faults I would have got one in a heartbeat.

There may be some THP MPG threads on here, I'll look shortly.

Does the one you are looking at come with any warranty from the garage?

Orange lights on the dash display= pre 2013 manufacture
White lights on the dash= 2013 on manufacture (give or take 2/3 weeks)
