  • ODB2 reader issues

Can anyone confirm if there are diffrent types of bluetooth OBD2 readers for diffrent cars ????.

I have one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-C3...wAAOSwrklVChtb

I would have thought that a OBD2 reader will work on most if not all cars from 2002 onwards, this unit worked on every car i have had but will not work on my DS3,
i get a few leds light but no bluetooth and no connection, any reason why or am i doing something wrong ?????

    Any input aprciated.

    Thanks
    Tez

i have this one in mine ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

seems to be very reliable, i did have one very similar to what you have but like yours didn't seem to fully work and wasn't as responsive as the one i have now.

possibly it has just come to the end of its shelf life? how many cars have you used it on?

If there's no lights, then that's no power. Hopefully it's just the reader made for slightly different cars.
I've bough a bunch of super cheap and not-quite-nasty ones from aliexpress/ebay. They all work fine.

        Try one like this:

If the lights still don't come on, then it might be worth checking if power AND a decent ground is present at your OBD socket. You should at the very least get the leds lit up.

There are I believe 5 different OBD II protocols. Your reader may not work with the one citroen has decided to use.

This is identical to the one i have but dont seem to work, i have used this on at least 12 cars and all ok but on the DS3 nothing, i take it there is only 1 OBD2 port ??? in the glove box in the left compartment ???
