  • Back Box Bracket Corrosion.

Just had to shell out 30 quid for a new back box mounting bracket because mine snapped leaving my poor exhaust tip inches from the ground.
Is this a common occurrence? When I took the old one off all the bolts underneath where rusted to the point where if I ever need to remove them, I'll need an angle grinder. Surely Citroen would use more rust-resistant materials for stuff like that, I know it's cost cutting but I almost lost a good portion of my exhaust

At some point Citroen replace my brackets during service, im assuming under warranty as i was never billed, im sure there was a service bulletin sent out regarding this, somebody on here will confirm/deny this.

Mine was in for its 2 year service last week and the rear bracket is being replaced this week under warranty. I know Joni had hers done under warranty on her old DS3, a few others too.

I`ve got sturdy Powerflow brackets holding my exhaust in place.......thought I would replace everything before it snapped off!

Thanks guys, I had to do mine myself because the car's 5 years old now (no warranty for me). The one I got was a custom fab and appears to be made of aluminium so fingers crossed it won't snap so easily.

There is a stainless steel bracket from HJS available. Should last longer than normal steel.

Cut it, it is the only way. They make couplers if you want to put it back on.

Was hoping there was an easier way...
will try welding the bracket with the exhaust still in place, isolate it at the front to protect the car electronics, then hope for the best!

Its worse than I thought :,(
the front exhaust mount has also failed...
might take it to a garage and get it up on a ramp... gutted.

Just finished the job, couldnt get a jack under the car, so drove onto some
wood, bearly enough room to fit just a welding helmet.
                              but got it done ^^.
