Agree with Chris_Blue, the principal of the alloygators is good but I'd be gutted if I added them for protection and then found out they'd caused corrosion of the clear coat by trapping water against the finish

Couple of pointers for cleaning the car.

First you can take it through an auto wash (if you want)

If you are using a hose then wash the roof from the opposite side, i.e stand on the left and wash the right side of the roof. This stops you blasting water into the roof seals! Also do the same on the rear as water can get in there real easy.

Second you can use a soft brush to gentle agitate any marks on the roof but don't be too rough, my advice (daft as it sounds) is to hoover the roof first before washing it.

Third you can use body shampoo on the roof but you will be better off using a specific cabrio roof product.

That's exactly why I'm reluctant to use alloygators again. The condition of the wheels on old DS3, whilst probably only cost me a couple of hundred ££'s on part ex price wasn't because they been kerbed, it was mainly the signs of corrosion under the alloygators. And when I consider that there wasn't any major signs of scuff marks on the alloygators anyway, do I want to spoil the look of the car? I just have to be extra careful when parking knowing that I haven't got that protection.
As for cleaning the car, I was somewhat shocked to read in the handbook that they recommend using an auto wash!
The salesperson who sold the car to me recommended that exact thing re: washing from the opposite side using a soft brush etc.
So when the next Wrexham area meet or Doughnuts at the Trafford centre happens you can now count on me being there. (Subject to working shift pattern [emoji2])
