Possible Fuel leak

Hi

Got a quick question I've just bought a 2015 ds3 ice edition, when i picked it up on monday evening it had one bar more than half of fuel.
now i havent drove very far and last night it was on one less than half and today ive droe to work and back about 10 miles and its gone down another bar. :?
Obviously i'd expect it to use more fuel than my 208 but i think this is a bit much, anoyone got any advice?

Could have been that the bar if fuel it was showing was just on the edge on knocking down the next one.

For example lets say one bar = 50 miles (JUST to put a number on it!) it could have been that the car had used 47 of those miles and was still registering that section

That said, are you saying you it has used one whole bar for 10 miles? Since registering the new bar.

Have you noticed any marks under the car where it has been parked up?

That does sound very suspicious. Even in my petrol, 1 bar lasts about 25-35 miles depending on driving style. I'd leave it on a tarmac surface overnight and check in the morning to see if there's any fuel on the ground.

Can any technical pros confirm that all DS3s have the same size fuel tank?

Yep as its gone down one whole bar between last night and this afternoon :/
I havent seen any spill or any petrol smell that ive noticed but im gonna go out now and have a sniff about.

I have a 1.6 vti petrol and if I push it before changing up I can get through a bar very quickly (20 miles or so). Short trips really reduce economy, stop start traffic also.
IMO the vti engine isn't that efficient and 20-35 miles will use a bar easily.
Petrol is a very potent smell so if you where dropping fuel you'd smell it, even from inside the car when stopped at lights etc.
Edit: If you where losing enough fuel to notice on the gauge, you'd definately see a puddle if not a trail where the car has been, we once had a car with a cracked fuel pump head; spraying fuel everywhere but we drove for a good 50 miles and didn't see a real decrease in economy.

As above unless there are any other signs of fuel leakage I'd not immediately think of it. Digital fuel gauges are not entirely to be trusted, as someone else said you might have been "at the bottom" of one bar and it just ticked down to the next one.

As someone asked the petrols all have the same size tank the diesels as well but the diesels have smaller tanks than petrols.

I think I'm gonna go back to the dealer any way as its dropped another bar this morning. I don't drive like an idiot and I haven't been and any stop start traffic tbh and I get quite good mpg.
Best to have it checked out before they turn round and say something I've done.

Yeah, this happened a lot in my 120Vti. I swear the very last bar would only get a few miles in that car!

Before you take it back, is it worth filling it up too see how long the very first bar takes to fall down?

I'd do what WTF suggested and fill the tank completely, monitor the mpg it shows and then see what you get from the tank before going back to the dealer

It's worth pointing out that adding small amounts of fuel tends to confuse the gauge, you're better of making sure you fill up with at least over 12 litres each time.
