should I buy a petrol DSPort

Having read some of the horror stories about the Dsport plus engine, should i buy one?

I know lots of people write to forums with there complaints, but in reality is buying a DSport a risk or are they OK with just the occasional one that is a rogue like any car?

I will be looking at a used one at the end of the year around 2013, with about 40k milage.

Or would I be be better off looking at a DStyle plus petrol?

I've had 2 and loved both, there have been a few unlucky people on here but as with anything, people are quicker to be negative than positive on forums.

I would test drive it, make sure you get some warranty and if you get any issues you're covered. There's a few preventative measures you could take too, walnut blasting, replacing HPFP, timing chain etc. Depends on how long you're planning on keeping it and what your budget is.

If you try both vehicles you mention, am sure you would plump for the THP

Early days on THP were the timing chain issues, and as time went on HPFP and super knock, which is treatable

If you are aware these may/have happened to any vehicle you buy, and factor costs in, at least your going in with open eyes

The later version the better

They are a great little car. Wouldn't hesitate to get another older version THP, but would need to know its history
