Car shaking at very high speeds

Has anyone experienced this. Got our 13 plate DSport plus in July. On its first drive home I gave it the beans and noticed the car started to shake quite noticably when i got over 95mph, but at the time i thought it might have been the road or even in my head!

Then yesterday the same thing, above 95mph the whole car feels like it starts to vibrate, any ideas what could cause this??

Wheels aren't balanced? That would be the first thing i'd check.

Of course, nobody would dream of driving at 25 over the speed limit, and this is a purely hypothetical question, right?

Defo a hypothetical question. No-one in this club *cough* would drive that fast on any road *cough* unless its an organised track day *cough*

Given it only happens at high speeds there's an outside chance it's a rear wheel bearing or a tyre slightly out of round, if they were out of balance 95 is a little high for it to first make its presence felt. On a Suzuki I had a few years ago when you got to ahem miles an hour the steering didn't shake at all but the floor seat and everything else did, one of the rear bearings had gone.

Oh yea, i forgot to say this is purely hypothetical.......

I've just had a new tyre on the back but it was doing it before that. I'll take it in to my local tyre place at the weekend to check the balance on all 4 wheels. I just thought it was a bit odd that i only notice it when it pushes over 95mph.......in my hypothetical situation.....

The steering goes light but it doesn't vibrate like OP described.

I did one dream mine hit 110 and was fine

I dreamt I hit 116, just 2 shy of the top speed. In my dream the car seemed stable enough, bar the window seals flapping a little.

Edit: forgot to mention this dream was obviously on a track with adequate safety measures so as not to endanger myself or other track users

*cough * when I was doing 70 *cough* I found my quite stable and didn't notice any shaking from myb12 plate 1.6 vti I wasn't going faster the 70 *cough cough *

118 mph (not dreaming, we are allowed here to do this) and the car was totally stable.
