    Howzit howzit,

So had the car in for a service check as I wanted them to look at a couple things

I'd managed to disconnect the rear view mirror dim sensor when doing some deep cleaning
Also CD player just doesn't work anymore, doesn't even pick up cds

And since I had it serviced a few month ago at a Peugeot dealer, by a Cit qualified tech, it came back with a service fault that they couldn't fully diagnose

Results from yesterdays checks were as follows....

Need a new rear view mirror: £182.95
Need a new CD player: £243.83

And the fault apparently is something to do with the alternator, possibley due to the remap.. = About £1000 ..... This is also believed to be the reason why my stop/start doesn't work either

Then recommended that if I need to replace the alternator, probably better off trading the car back in...

    So....

Anyone else had similar issues and managed to sort them out or is it time for me to start thinking about my next car?

Surely if the sensor is discounted you can just plug it back in again??

Just buy a second hand CD unit, much cheaper!

Sounds like your remap has been putting stress on the alternator and they are not cheap as you have found out. Lesson to be learned by anyone thinking of doing the same?

Bear in mind if you chop the car you will need to decide if the loss in value works out better than fixing it.

Find a replacement alternator, mirror and head unit from a donor car and get a local mechanic to replace at a better price.

Edit: Probably not the correct part but much cheaper than £1000....

Edit 2: Alternator may also be the cause for your failing headunit.

Edit 3: Have you checked the battery is holding it's charge too?

I thought that about the sensor, but they said you'd end up cracking the casing to do that. Peogeut and Citroen both said the same
