  • Opaline Paint\DS3 Givenchy

    Hi All

I am looking for some advice for my sister who is considering purchasing a brand new DS3 Givency Le Makeup model. She already drives a DS3 and is considering one of these special editions after seeing it in the showroom and been offered it for £15,000 including GAP and interior and exterior protection.

She is concerned about the paint though with it being the Opaline White giving the matt\sandy finish.

Does anyone have any experience of this paint? Is it easy to clean? Is it easy to get repaired? Does it cost much more than a normal repair if needed?

Any help I can pass on to her would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    From what I've heard:

Paint care help is included in the manual for the special editions, I think it's jetwash only, no automated carwashes or sponges.

Any repairs should be covered under warranty for a brand new car.

I know there are a couple of people here with the Givenchy models, hopefully they see this!

      Cheers BenS

I have just found a few threads on here from owners, so yeah hopefully they will see this.

Surely the warranty wouldn't cover for example a scratch obtained in a car park, only manufacturing faults\defects?

      Cheers

Tell them to knock the price of the GAP insurance off the value of the car and get it elsewhere.

Sorry I can't help with the paint, with the warranty I would generally imagine just faults/defects etc. There's probably a wear and tear clause too.

          Welcome

Just looking at the Press Release again hoping for a hint - "Reinventing the matt finish on this car’s bodywork, DS has used a new paint process for the very first time. The body features a new shade called Opaline White. The textured paint, which is not used by any other carmaker in the world, has a granular feel and a striking new finish that highlights the lines of the car"

          No hints

Let me see what I can find out from some friends who might know what a repair would entail. If it would be an in house local repair or a specialist citroen appointed repair job.

Cheers WTF. The paint is really putting her off with the potential costs. I emailed Citroen direct and got the helpful answer of - 'send us your postcode and we will pass your details to the local dealer'. Who, coincidentally didn't know the answer when asking last weekend.

Thanks for the advice provided on GAP as well.

              Thanks

1 - The paint on the textured paint on the DS3 can be washed by jet lance as normal as long as it is not a super high pressure unit, don't use and sponges on the paint. You can use a soft cloth to gently rub parts of the car as needed as long as you are not too rough. Bird dropping need to be removed as soon as possible.

In regards to a repair the paint is going to cost more per litre than a standard colour but this will be covered by your insurance in the event of an accident. SMART Repairs will most likely not be possible.

2 - When it comes to GAP remember the cost is NOT the most important issue, the limit of the peril is and in this case how much shortfall the policy offers. A policy should ALWAYS cover the full cost of the car in the event of a write off.

It's not the first time I have dealt with a customer who bought a GAP policy on the cheap and got stung with it as the cover was no where near what was needed.

Granted the dealer cover may look expensive but it offers a lot of benefits such as excess cover, peril to £20,000, transferable cover, etc. I suggest you weight up all your options before deciding, remember your dealer will only be authorised to discuss their cover with you.

                  Hi

So I bought this car back in September.. I love the car (has d-style plus 1.6 last time)

But if I'm 100% honest the paintwork is a nightmare to get clean and keep clean!

It takes a lot of looking after and I've found bits I can't get off and came on here to see if anyone else has any tips for cleaning it! I guess it seems worse this time of year with the weather/ grit on the roads etc but it's not as easy as cleaning a car with normal paintwork!

Apart from that the car itself is the best I've had.. the interior especially with the rose pink dashboard, givenchy car mats/ lego on the side, whisper purple roof, the LED lights and of course the make up haha... it's unique and the paintwork does look great compared to your standard white one!!

                      It comes up nicely!

I'd imagine snow foam would work well, leaving it to dwell and help dissolve the dirt off a bit

Useful info in this but its from 2017. I'm looking to buy this same model 4 years later. Anyone got any more info on the paint, cleaning, repairs etc as its the only thing putting me off. Cheers.
