  • Fuel economy on 120 hdi

Hi all, just wondering what the fuel economy is like on the 120.
My Oh is looking to put a deposit down on this car
    http://www.tatescars.co.uk/used-cars...p-dsport-plus/

I've searched through loads of mpg threads etc and I can't specifically find any results for this car
Her monthly payments will probably be going up by about 40/50 a month as she has a 207 gti with a bit of negative equity on.
Obviously though she will be saving on tax and fuel but we're not sure what sort of figures she should be expecting on the diesel and whether this will offset the extra cost of the car.
It's not crucial just be interested to know.
    Thanks

    Hiya,

Depends entirely on what journeys you do and the way you drive it. Obviously 5 minute town trips and traffic jams only will net you a lot less than longer motorway trips.

That said, I think people here usually get between about 45 and 60 depending on the above.

As always, the MPG you will get varies depending on the driver but from what I've read the 120 Diesel should get 50-80MPG depending on the conditions. Apparently the 1.2 is only good on long journeys, for short ones it's not much better than a Civic Type R, lol.

We are debating whether to go new, my partner was looking at the performance line but once you've added the extras on it it's not much off an ultra prestige amd she loves them seats
Seen a deal at Evans halshaw for 999 deposit and 258 a month on the ultra prestige.
Will definitely prefer a petrol but if the 1.2 is not that good on short runs then seems a bit pointless going for it over the diesel.
To be fair most of her runs are motorway and dual carriageways so the diesel may be better suited.

If you did want an ultra prestige then that's a 1.6 turbo with 165bhp

When cruising on big roads, the diesel will definitely save more fuel. Bear in mind if going new that you only have a couple of weeks before the changes to road tax, and the diesel will no longer be £0 a year!

I think the 165 would kill the bank balance lol.
The 120 ultra prestige diesel would do nicely I think.
What will the diesel be after March?
I'm due to collect an M140i bmw this week so I avoid the tax but the manual version of that is 800 for the first year lol

Hmm not great is it really, ok its not bad in the general scheme of things but 0 to 140 is not ideal.
There's a couple of 66 plate ones I've seen bashing around so may give them a ring and see what they can do

My wife has had her 16plate 1.2(130) for a week tomorrow
We brimmed the tank and reset the computer and it's showing 38mpg and improving from just running around the town,
She drives it to the gear change indicator on the dash and leaves the stop start switched on which helps with the mpg

Once it's empty and brimmed back up then we should get an idea of how far the computer is out

Thanks for that. Do the 165 thps suffer from the earlier issues on the thp?
The price of the new car isn't too bad actually especially if she's saving on tax and fuel but the issue is her car. It's still got about 2k negative equity on it.
