  • Fiesta ST Vs My DS3

Last weekend very early in the morning, myself and an St driver arrived at a roundabout together. His/her car was lowered, a 16 plate and had a milltek exhaust (sounding just like mine).

I was behind the ST as we came off the 3rd exit in 2nd gear doing about 30mph onto a long slip road to a dual carriageway, the ST got on the pedal a split second before i did but i was suprised how easily i was able to close up , to the point i backed off at about 65mph (still in 2nd).

My point is what kind of power does a tuned ST put out, if it had a milltek exhaust then id have thought the car was also mapped, maybe not.

A stock one is over 200bhp on over boost so even if it was stock you caught up because you were trying harder than he was.

Over 200bhp at stock, im sure on Top Gear Extra Gear they said the Fiesta ST200 was the most powerful Fiesta produced, and this wasnt an ST200.
It wasnt stock as it had a Milltek exhaust, then again mine is over 200bhp anyway.

Well stock ones are 197bhp on overboost (have now looked it up) and St200 are 212bhp on overboost. So assuming the mods had had any positive effect it should be over 200bhp.

His cant have been mapped and maybe just had the milltek as a mod, would have put us at about the same BHP. Must have been the gearing or maybe Jamies Map is better than a stock Ford one

The maps don't do a huge amount in terms of power, even giving mountune 3 grand will only get you about 30bhp over the stock overboost figure. Although it is then available all the time while the standard car has 197 some of the time and 180bhp if you aren't running flat out.

Done a fair few of these now, 210-215 on stock car,
              White on red THP
Miltek exhaust with HKS highflow cat, Forge intercooler, hard pipe kit, induction kit, oil catch tank, , VAG BOV, Stage 3 SPT remap 217 BHP

The Fiesta ST's we had at Jamie's Dyno day didn't make more than 190. Closer to 180 iirc.

I'd be interested to know if the car was napped, maybe i was on boost earlier due to the map and gearing.

Tbf it's quite hard to get anything useful out of comparing an on road drag race, you don't know if both drivers are similarly committed, if you are following then them punching a hole in the air for you will make it seem like you've got a power advantage even in identical cars. Then in this case you have the fact the stock map on the ford is 180bhp in 1st and 2nd then allows the full whack if you go wide open throttle in 3rd or above for a limited time (possibly 15 seconds been a while since I read this TBH).

Tbf it does require both drivers to be on full tilt for there to be a useful comparison anyway. on way to Jamie's I travelled down with a buddy in an ST and we had a number of short sprint races. Sometimes he won, sometimes I did.

Those ST's are undoubtedly quick though.

The other driver was committed, id just out braked him on a previous roundabout and as we broke for the lights on the next roundabout he purposely sat alongside (arguably in the wrong lane for the 3rd exit).
I let him get infront of me then as i say he nailed it a split second before me, he was almost off the bend, i was maybe 10 metres behind. Also i wasnt directly behind him (two lane, him in right me in left).

What no video footage, you need lessons from Albish.

Tuned ST is slower than tuned DS3 up until 90... so I've heard ;D (ST 230bhp, DS200bhp)

Quite considerably slower lower down. Plus you look like a McDonald's Chav lol

Standard ST wouldn't have a chance against a tuned DS
