  • Uprated intercooler

Has anybody come across any decent reasonably priced front mount intercooler? The offering forge have is imo a bit of a joke at nearly a grand and the airtec one still seems rather steep at just shy of £400 for a glorified heat sink / radiator lol *disclaimer* I'm aware of the cheap nasty useless sh.... crap on fleabay and will be steering well clear lol

Look promising, how worried should I be of the height of it covering most of the radiator when it comes to summertime?

It's working in Greece, so it should do it like a charm in England
The Seat intercooler is engineered with the radiator in mind, because the Ibiza has the radiator behind the intercooler as well.

                    Just seen you have a 1.2l 110hp.

The Seat intercooler might just be a bit large for your application. With all that volume to pressurise you could just be inducing lag into the engine.

Yh mines only a baby lol tbf I'm hoping it shouldn't as the standard ic etc is the same as the 1.6

Question is, do the 1.6 THP and 1.2 Puretech use the same turbo? And do they run the same boost pressures? If your turbo has a lower peak pressure then you'll really notice the pressure drop over the larger heat exchanger.

Also, have you measured post-intercooler temperatures and found them to be unsatisfactory? Could be that the Puretech functions just fine with the stock one. I don't know, they haven't been around long and not many people are modding them yet.

I have seen a 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta running 180bhp, so big power is definitely achievable with the smaller engines, and if this sort of thing is the plan then a bigger intercooler is definitely a sound investment.

I have checked the temps, can't remember what they were off hand but they fell within a satisfactory area (testing was done on a brisk winters morning though). Tbh I'm waiting for Jamie @sptuning to let me know when citroen have released the protocols so I can get a decent power map onto it so keeping myself busy in the mean time getting all the other bits ready. Not sure if the same turbo but I'm running a measly 9-10 psi atm :-( lol

Would imagine would have massive turbo lag at that modfified thp runs 18/19 psi

Well finally got the seat sport style intercooler fitted :-) happy to say I've not gained any noticeable lag or drop in psi (checked with boost gauge and torque pro) Click image for larger version
