A sales person (all due respect to sales execs on here) will tell you the sky is pink if he thinks he can get anything out of it. Trying to fathom out what he said, maybe thinking there's a premium product within Citroens but we don't like to talk about it? Along those lines maybe?

Because of the human input in the factory, there's always problems, but it seems you've had more than your fair share. Perhaps the dealers that you go to have pissed Citroen UK off and are sent "lemons?" Just a thought

I signed up when I first bought my car hence the excitement and entusiasm. I sent a message to the site owner today to request a name change for this exact reason.

I have posted positive comments about the car and still do, but I'm not going to post how great it feels driving this car up the hills of Cheddar gorge dodging goats in a thread titled "things to look out for"

in response to dave - I didn't buy my DS3 from Palmers Citroen. I lodged a complaint against them and gave another dealership a chance. The new dealership are the friendliest bunch of people you could want to buy a car from and have done everything in their power to make my new purchase enjoyable. They have been so good I wrote to Citroen praising them and how they have restored my faith in Citroen.

I also bought my first 3 Citroens from another dealership.

Good point and you are very welcome to post your opinions anytime you want. Just take the silly comments with a pinch of salt :-)

Interesting comments being made here. Shame that you are having a few problems with your car DS3 enthusiast and I hope that it will all come out in the wash. Half the battle is getting on with your dealer so they can resolve this issues and it sounds like that you have that already and you can get back to the job of enjoying the car. Also hats off to sticking to your guns against some comments

As to the technology things that you mentioned it's actually the other way around!! Citroen (PSA Group) sell their technology onto the likes of Range Rover, Jaguar, BMW, Etc. For example the stop start system BMW and Land Rover coo about is from the Citroen C3 Stop & Start that was developed back in 2005. The engines PSA group build are supplied to just about all major manufacturers, Citroen was the first makers to use a monocoque body frame, first to employ front wheel drive, directional headlights, and was the first to 'crash test' their cars. Other tech like the park measure is now found on BMW and on others too, the C6 suspensions system can be found on Range Rover.

What you tend to find is that car makers bulk at the cost of making new technology and thus wait for someone else to try it which tends to be Citroen, the only thing is that make Citroen what they are, bold and with flair. When you look at the ranges of cars today you don't see carbon copies of one car turned into a small, medium or large (Audi, Renault, Ford) but instead you see different styles which all come from the same stable.

Sorry to drone on but I have been with Citroen for many years now and went through the 'hurt years' when Citroen was trying to sort it's self out, we may not be quite 'there' yet but by god we're not far from it and to be honest every manufacturers has problems - it's just with Citroen our customers seem to focus too much on it which is a shame as they are missing out on what Citroen is all about. Being brave enough to try something new. Being bold. Being different.

One thing to maybe think about is much of our mind is made up about manufacturers by preconception? I bet if everyone of us where put into five top brands and a few middle brands, like Citroen, blindfolded we couldn't tell which car we where sitting in but just touch, feel, and hearing the door shut (an old VW trick is to put holes into the rubber so what you really hear is air escaping the seals!). Bet we would get it all wrong!!

Anyway I'm sorry to have pushed this thread off the rails as to speak.

Whatever they pay you, Biggie, it's not nearly enough.

This, for example, is a million times better than anything Citroen's marketing bods could have come up with:

Nope, it comes from not getting enough sleep, drinking too much tea and being a Citroen 'Fan boy'

                  Thanks for the comments guys!

Thanks for your replies everyone - in particular Meadow Knight and Bigfeet76. Obviously there are some items which are subjective and everyone will have a different opinion, but its good to get a feel for what to expect from ppl who have had the car long term, and for things new buyers should make sure are checked out on theirs when it arrives.

Sorry to hear you obviously have a 'lemon' ds3enthusiast, hope it gets sorted quickly and you can enjoy the car as much as most other people seem to be!

What are your opinions on the bluetooth phone system (not with myway system) - i have read some ppl had issues with syncing, but has this now been resolved on newer models? I have a htc desire and wondered whether the phonebook will sync, and if so, whether new contact are synced automatically or if you have to manually input somehow?

Thanks in advance for any comments guys!

The phonebook is read from your phone every time it connects as far as i have noticed, could be wrong though.

Your right enough Zedzim, Boo_ds3 has the HTC desire and it connects fine and allows you access to your call directory as well as phone book.

Ah rite, thats good. Can you only see 1 or 2 contacts at a time on the smaller screen if you dont have the myway screen? And can you access phonebook, scroll through contacts and dial, all from the steering wheel controls?

Sorry for the silly little questions - its just that im coming from a fantastic touchscreen system in my lexus is250. i know the ds3 wont be as comprehensive but still hope its nice n easy to use.

You can use the control stalk next to your steering wheel to control the address book, I think the screen shows about 6 at a time, but it's easy to scroll through pages using the wheel +buttons on the control stalk

                                Thats Ok!

What you will see is a list of contacts on the centre display which will be more than just 1 or 2, I think the list will display up to 10 at a time. You can access all of the phone controls whilst on the move from the radio control stalk. The bluetooth does only support one mobile at a time though so if you have more then one mobile paired the system will look for mobile 1 first and if thats not found it will search for mobile 2 and etc.
