No boost, help!

This is going to be long but hoping the more information I give the better.

I've been having patches of no boost recently. When it first happened I listened to hear if anything was different and there was no intake noise so I checked and found the rubber connector from the boost pipe to the turbo had a crack in it so I bought new boost pipes because that comes with a new connector. That fixed it and then I last week I was in a traffic jam and when I went to pull away no boost. So I listened and there was no induction noise so when I got home I checked it all again to see if anything had come loose; nothing loose, so I checked for any other leaks and couldn't find any. The next day I set off to work and had boost again, then a few days later I was in more traffic and not moving and then when I went to set off no boost again. Then boost the day after and I had boost all week until today when I was in a traffic jam for a while and now I have no boost agin…

Any got suggestions on what it could be?

the little boost valve? (not sure of it's real name) it is in the back under intake manifold. It controls the waste gate actuator

Hi DS3Rob - how did you check the wastegate..? Did you take it to anyone to do the checking..?

I'm interested in this because sometimes mine pulls really, really well and other times it seems a little flat (especially when overtaking!)

Any info appreciated!

That could be to do with your overboost. But I took all the air intake tubes out so I could access it a bit easier and gave it a bit of a wiggle and and then it shut. The only thing I worried about was if it was then stuck shut because it it was it could over boost

I didn't/dont think I had overboost on mine (2014 THP).

Finally got round to taking the photos for you.

In this one I've circled the bar that is part of the waste gate and gave that a little wobble to see if it was stuck because it should be shut. It's easiest to get here from under the car


This one I've taken all the air intake parts out so I could get to the wastegate and see if the hose was still on

The wastegate on these turbos rest in an open position, to check operation just apply some vacuum to the actuator and visually check its movement and that it makes a fully closed position at about -50KPa

Got the same problem on my racing and I belive it's the wastegate jammed open well I hope so no boost at all
