  • New Bumper?

    Hi All,

Had a little accident a while back, drove into a Golf of all things (hardly a mark on the other car). There's some damage to the front passenger side.

Took the bumper off with the help of my dad but it looks like the lugs/clips on the top near the wing are knackered. Is there a fix for this or it is time for a new bumper?

Absolutely gutted as there isn't another mark on the car

The clips are "suicide clips" - break 90% of the time when removing the bumper. You can try gluing a thin metal bracket on to reinforce it or do what my bodyshop did and put a screw under the wing panel and zip tie it to the ring next to the last bumper clip. You should be able to un-dent the wing too with some hot water and pushing from the back.

Alright mate. That happened to me the first month I got my license. I was in a carpark and I thought I was in reverse when in reality I was in first gear. Hit the wall and the left side of the bumper detached exactly like yours.
I left it for 6 months or so and when my MOT was due got it fixed then. They put a screw in the bottom and somehow reattached the bumper. It's not perfect but only when you really look at it you would see that it's a tiny bit outta place. Costed about 20£ I think.

          Hope you get it sorted

My Sister had a dink in her DS3 in a car park (so low speed) the other car had a small bump but nothing too visible. Hayley's car had a whole array of damage including the headlight cracking, the DRL coming out, bumper popping off etc. Really surprised how much damage was done from such a small bump.

Hey all, managed to get it sort of re-attached in a way where it's not popping out, also lost one of the DRLs but my dad has managed to re-attach it for me. Looks tonnes better now! I am going to need a new front wing though as it's been knocked quite badly and doesn't quite line up anymore and it won't pull out.

I can live with it for the moment though.

Good work with what you have managed! Keep your eye on ebay and local breakers for white DS3s with rear damage so the front is untouched.
