  • Activate scrolling text RDS

I posted this inquiry last year but no-one was able to help. Hopefully someone out there can help.
I have a 2014 DS3 Sport - last year, the local radio stations started broadcasting with RDS and I was able to see the scrolling text of the song and artist on the radio display. But after a couple of months the scrolling text stopped and all I now get is the station type.
Does anyone know how I can get the scrolling text working again?
Here's a pic of how the display looks now.

    Cheers

I've just had a look at mine and it doesn't matter if RDS is on or off, still seems to scroll for me.

Could be the radio stations you listen to don't update the text? Or worth checking with your dealer to see if there's an update?

Thanks for the reply - the stations definitely still transmit scrolling text - it works on other radios. The puzzling thing is that it used to work - but now only shows the station name and type! I have asked the local dealer but haven't had much luck!

The only other thing I can think of is there might be software update available. I know mine was updated by the dealer when it arrived (June 2014), possible yours has one too?

Not used the system myself but it's not something silly is it? Like pressing on that information changes what kind of information is displayed? So if you press on the station type now it will change back to scrolling text and pressing that again would change back to the station type? Just a thought..

It's not touch screen, we're old school.

When on the radio screen press the centre round button to bring up the radio sub menu. One of the options on that will be to turn on the radio text.

Thanks Bigfeet - but when I press the button with the radio screen displaying, the sub-menu only give me two options "Change Band" and "TA". It's still a mystery!

Took another look at this with a car on site which is fitted with the eMyWay system and as far as I can see the radio text is an automatic feature of the car and not something can can be switched on or off. Sometimes the text can get stuck (happens with DAB all the time) and all the radio will display the last text it received. You can try refreshing the radio list to see if that forces the radio to "reboot", otherwise there is not much else that can be done I'm afraid.

I used the "Update Radio List" function - but unfortunately no difference! I guess I'm stuck with "Pop Music"! Thanks anyway, Bigfeet.

Having another think you could try one more "thing".

You can reset the car back into transport mode and then back again into customer mode. This might kickstart things for you and is worth a try. All you need to do is go into the fusebox in the car and pull the shunt fuse (grey one normally marked HS). You'll note that the hole is larger than the others as it has three slots, move the fuse over to the other end and start the car up. After a few minutes go and put the fuse back where it was.

Word of warning you will need to reset all the parameters on the car again such as MPG and radio.

OK - do I leave the car running when I put the fuse back into its original spot?

No, make sure you switch the engine back off again.

Can I ask if you've tried any other stations, like BBC R1 or something? The station you listen to may just not put anything out.
