Affects me in a big way as past threads have shown.

I have now changed from mativoire beige to thorium grey, still with black roof, I'm also told it will not affect my delivery which is expected to be first two weeks in May.

i have stop start on my mini, you just bring it to a halt, pop it in neutral and take your foot off the clutch and the engine stops, press the clutch again and it starts, no need for handbrake.

            What stops you from rolling?

This is most likely why the Citroen require this.

How many times are you on a truly level road when you stop..... I guess that its easy NOT using the handbrake if you have enough feet to..depress the throttle, hold it on the foot-brake and use the clutch at the same time.

The thing is Citroen is just covering themselves from 'legal eagles' but insisting the handbrake is on.

Are you sure about that? Anything can be traced in a car's ECU with a bit of digging, if something has been modified in can be traced.

The SRT8 I have just got rid of had a hand held programmer that allowed me to put the factory tune back in when it needed to go in for servicing, but, even though it had the original factory tune loaded back in they could see the ECU had been written too if they wanted to dig deep enough.

Under normal circumstances, not an issue, but if I wanted to make an engine related claim, or I was in a serious enough accident and suspicion was that the car was modified they'd find out easily enough.

                      Hey Biggie
Does this mean that my car which I ordered in March/April that I am being told is a May build/June delivery will be this new eco unit? When I drove the fiat 500, that was first experience of stop/start techno. Found it a bit wierd in all honesty. However, the delaer said the handbrake must be applied in order for it to work, low and behold you didnt. Just out of gear clutch out and stationary. I was always bought up to think that starting an engine uses more fuel, so it was better to leave it running unless for more than 2 minutes.

I havn't done the research on this, and I'm sure it's been throughly tested. Doesn't the thought of the engine constantly being stopped/started sound bad, I was under the impression if something is going to break, it's usually when it's turned on, and consistently doing this only wears things quicker.

I have no idea if this is going to be a good or bad thing for the engine. It will be brilliant for anyone in the inner city but in the outskirts you wouldnt really need it.

Either way thanks for the updates Biggie

On the colour codes, does this mean that the uk is not getting the matte black edt we saw in france?

                              Right!

@Jaspbet - Check with your dealer and ask them to confirm the LCDV code for your car, that will show if your car is being built with this new engine or not, the LCDV code for the new car is 1CYA A3 P BF J 70 9Y 10

@Mr Bird Poo - Citroen messed about with this tech back in 2004/5 and after letting BMW mess around with it for a couple of years Citroen has perfected the system. It works a treat and the trick is to do with the Starter motor I have been led to believe

@ds3adi - I have wondered if Citroen UK will get the matte edition but looking at the grief Fiat and BMW are getting from owners about damaged paintwork because customers are not taught how to look after it or have any clue how much up keep matte paint is. I think Citroen UK might not want the hassle.

thought that might be a problem for them as we know how much they like faults pointed out hahaha. It looks nice but the upkeep must be murder and one speck out of place and it will look shite
