  • dashboard noises driving me mad

Has anyone had the same issue as me with tons of creeking and noises coming from the console/dashboard? I have had it back in several times but the problem keeps happening. When im driving down the motorway which i do everyday to work and back you will find me wacking the front console in an attenpt to stop these god dam noises, its driving me mad.

I have complained various times but all they say is 'book it in and we'll have a look'!!!!! how many times do i have to do that!! And if you need a courtesy car which i do the excess is £1500 now thats a joke.

I got my car from Nuneaton citroen and there customer services are poor, they never ever return calls when promised, your left calling them back, there a joke

Let me know your thoghts guys but please be gentle, im on the edge here

lol! I know how frustating a niggling noise can be!

Is it definatley the dash? My glovebox would drive me mad as the rubber bits that sit between the door and dash had fallen off. I all can suggest for now.

Its does creek a bit if my middle fans are first turned on. Is yours all the time or when the fans are on/off etc?

Someone will help you more than me I'm sure!!!

Have a good search around the forums.....there is a thread about dashboard noises (and the Citroen fix). FYI you can take your car to ANY Citroen dealer for Warranty work.
Another source of dashboard noises is from the glovebox lid, occasionally one of the little rubber buffers goes missing.
You should be able to get your own insurance extended to cover a courtesy car on the same terms as your normal insurance.

forgot about the glove box, that naffs me off as well, i'll check out the rubber thingys. I also forgot to mention, when i dont have a passenger in the car the passenger seat belt rattles around like a b1tch. When they tried to resolve the problem all they did was stick a piece of fabric behind the seatbelt housing itself....guess what IT NEVER WORKED

As for insurance, my insurance company 'hastings direct' charge for tranferring details over whilst hiring a courtesy car £55 a go. Last time citroen had my car i just took the day off work, screwed paying £55 to tranfer details or take the chance and hope nothing happens whilst using citroens insurance to borrow a courtesy car.

Its fair to say my love for this particular car isnt that great. That thought is also driven by the 'real MPG' figures. The MPG figures are absolute crap. Im hitting 54mpg and i never drive the car fast and i dont brake hard. The majority of my driving is motorway so i should be hitting 60/70mpg based on there figures, total tosh

          *their.

You will struggle to find any car company's publicised figures that come close to actual figures. They are controlled tests under controlled conditions.

As for the rattle. I find pushing the dash in, not hitting, works best for getting rid of the rattles. Mine creaks when you push it in, two hands job and the rattles seem to dissipate.

What model have you got and for how long have you had it?

Think there a wide gap between those that adore their little French cars and those that have found fault.

My seatbelt creeks, the boot still rattles when my music is turned up, even with sponge, the glove box rattles with rubber pads back and she doesn't like first gear sometimes. But all is forgotten when enjoying the drive and the style.

forgot to answer the question about when the noises start etc. The noises on my car happen ALL the time whether the vents are on or off. I find the plastic surrounding the speedo is massively creeky and 50% at fault for the noises in the car.

I used to push the front console in gently until i found myself getting so wound up, it was either the kids or the console getting a good wack. Belief it or not a good wack seems to work but i do worry about cracking it. The noises do contribute towards road rage

Im beating up the 1.6 diesel version, had it since novemeber, 10 plate.

I cannot fault the styling of the car as its the best looking car i have ever had, it looks a million dollars does but it acts and behavious like a 100 dollars. When i chop it in in 18 months time i very much doubt i will be replacing it with the same make of car...its the noises man, its killing me

You haven't told us what model/engine combination you have, and also how many miles it has done, so commenting on MPG figures is impossible.
With regard to the seat belt issue there seems to be 2 varieties of belt fitted, one has a plastic clip attached to the belt that stops the buckle from siding down the belt, and the other doesn't have a clip but has a loop of belt right near the bottom sliding mount that the buckle rests on and that stops the buckle from "clanking" around.
Insurance.....you could always try someone like this . https://www.tempcover.com/, I just got a quote for £21.15 for a day's cover on a DS3 White Diesel.
OR if you don't need a car during the day simply get the dealer to collect and return the car to you.

MPG....the diesel engines don't really start to loosen up and give their best until they have done 3-4,000 miles.....The figure that ALL makers quote are based on controlled conditions and its generally accepted that most drivers will never equal them. I have a white hdi with 1000 miles and dont drive it hard. i do loads of motorway miles and set the cruise to about 65 - 70 mph, mine is showing 64 - 67 mpg roughly, i am very happy with it. My dash also rattles and so does the glove box lid at times. I think i am just going to have to live with it lol

my dash rattles, firstly it was the trim around the center air vents, which was fixed and now it rattles from the glovebox/nearside air vent. im lucky i work 2 mins from my local citroen dealer. remember they should work around you! get them to collect and deliver from your work address. dont let it get on top of you just keep sending it back, the more you complain and keep booking it in the more they will realise they cant get rid of you. so will fix it. not the way it should be done but hey this is citroen. my dealership hate me, but they also no im a mechanic and wont take no for an answer. sometimes you have to be an a hole to get things done.

OK,I still dont have my car, and the whole Brand New car thing and warranties will be new to me. Can someone confirm if rattles etc should and will be covered by the manufacturers warranty? I understand some might be difficult as rattles are not the easiest thing to diagnose and fix, but I need to know where I would stand in this situation. Fingers crossed my car will be squeekless clean :P with no issues!
