  • problem with ds3 thp

Hi there, just registered and looking forward to being a regular contributor to this site but looking for some assistance in the first instance.

The car is app 650 miles old and I have just been out in it today [it is my wife's car], put the foot to the floor and it feels completely flat. There does not appear to be any turbo assistance whatsoever.

There are no lights on the dashboard to indicate limp home mode and the only thing to point out is that the fuel light is on but cannot see that there would be a link between this and a potential 'economy mode'.

Anyone else experienced this or should I be making my way to a dealer?

    Peter

thanks for that Dave....the posts in that section appear to be exactly the kind of issues I am having.

Early days but this is reminding me of my old xsara vts which developed engine management light problems within 100 miles from the showroom...they eventually replaced the car with another identical car after six nightmare months. Guess what it did after one month of ownership :-)

That however was 10 years ago and I truly had hoped there would be no issues with a new citroen...just as well I love the marque :-)

I think the cause is a weak plastic seal on a diaphram on a valve on the turbo, which can be replaced.
Biggie should be along soon and can confirm, so you can go to Citroen armed with that information and get a quick fix.

Does sound like a possible fail of the seal (I trust you haven't been spanking the car silly before it bed in!) that causes the pressure drop in the turbo and leads to what you described. Suggest that you contact you dealer in order to have them double check this and sort out the seal and clear the fault with the ECU. In the meantime you can consult my Info Rapid on THP power loss for some information here

Keep us posted with your solution so we can pass the info on.

finally got it back. It was a problem with an actuator valve around the wastegate - third hand feedback, sorry. anyhoo, zero boost pressure due to this. Car back and working fine. Understandably the fuel consumption is now back to what it was previously and far lower than it was with no turbo :-)

I think Citroen revised this actuator valve, but there were some of the older design still in the parts bin at Poissy probably

What Dave said is correct there was a redesign of the value, but it's going to depend on what model and RP no. your build was!

Glad to hear you got the problem sorted quickly.
