  • In a choice Pickle.

Hi, like all your selves i am a massive DS3 fan as soon as i saw one on the road i just had to buy one!

I am looking for the Getting it on lease with the elect 3.

The massive problem i am having is choosing one!

The 2 i am looking at is getting the 1.6 120 Petrol or the 110 HDi desiel.

    1.6 VTi 16v 120hp (Petrol) - DStyle
    5 Speed Manual/4 Speed Auto
    Max Power: kW/rpm 88/6000
    Max Torque: Nm/rpm 160/4200
    0-62mph = 8.9 secs
    Top Speed 118 mph

    1.6 HDi 110hp (Diesel) - DSport
    6 Speed Manual
    Max Power: kW/rpm 82/400
    Max Torque: Nm/rpm 270/2000
    0-62mph = 9.8 secs
    Top Speed 118 mph

I beleive as a lease its about 250 per month for the deisel and 220 for the petrol.

The few questions i looking at.
What is the power/acceleration throuhgt to 80 comparision on both? i am stuck in the old mind set that the petrol will be much better perfomer speed wise?

However the diesel will save alot per month in fuel and has the twin exhaust ;D (i would get the 17 inch alloys on the petrol).

Im just really suck which models to buy, then there is the OK and the 150bhp model as well, considering i am on a budget i think the cost of the 150 in petrol would cut them too out.

What is the sound of the deisel like? is it a nice tune compared the petrol or the dull hum of the old pegeout 306? lol (alothough its a massively good engine)

Sorry for all the questions and probably repreating myself but i want one! and dont know which .

Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks

I was in the same pickle.

I had a 1.4 run around before. And this was to be my first new build, so I wanted to LOVE my car.

I was stuck between both models, and I do 50 miles a day. I've never owned a diesel, nor do I know any one who has one for me to appreciate the newer engines and sound.

I test drive a 150 and LOVED it, if the money was mine I would have gone for the 150.

I went for the 120vti for the sake of KNOWING I'd like it. I didn't want to comit to and buy a diesel and drive it everyday thinking about the petrol.

Test drive a diesel, I hear they are fab engines, I wasn't able to, and was messed around by two other garages, so when I found a place I liked I just went fro it and got what I knew I'd like. I do however wish most days that I had managed to sweet talk a THP out of my Dad *sigh*

Not much technical help from me! Next problem you will have is colours!

I was toying between white with black roof, white with light blue or the light blue with a white roof.

TOOO many things to decide on!

    Good luck!!!

Unless things have changed massively the DSport 110HDi comes with 17" Bellone Alloys as does the Petrol motors, there are quite a few nice extras on the OK models (and they also are shod with 17" wheels).
In my opinion the diesels have a nice growl . For info the HDi 90 in the OK models is the one that Viezu can remap up to 120bhp and there are quite a few of them around so delivery of the OK models is quite quick

Wow thank you for the quick replies!!! John s, Zack and WTF, Muchly appreciateed... My brain is saying deisel but my heart i sayiying petrol lol. Far to much choice. I really hope the deisel sounds good as that would make my decision so much easier. i would def go for the 110 deisel. Is the perfromance of the 2 very similar through out. i assume the disel is better 60-100 and the petrol 0-60? Thank you all again

The HDi90 diesel remapped to 120bhp is awesome, the torque curve is a joy, now delivers earlier than standard and goes thro the entire rev band

You've got to try before you buy - otherwise you'll always be uncertain whether you made the right decision.

There are fervent advocates of both petrol and diesel on here - but nobody but you can answer the question, which one will put the biggest smile on YOUR face?

If you cant test drive a DS3 in diesel then I THINK (these guys will correct me) the new C3 is similiar? You might not get engine/car performance but you will at least get to hear to new diesel citroen engine.

I think that you are correct about the C3 diesel.....but the soundproofing levels of the C3 are much less than the DS3, so it will be quieter in a DS3 than a C3

I test drove a diesel and it was great to buy, but I went for petrol because it worked out alot cheaper for me and I'm used to them. Don't think you would be disappointed with either though, after all, it's DS3 either way!

If you drive the THP nice and easy you can get over 50mpg due to the long 6th gear.

To be honest it's going to boil down to the kind of driving you will mostly do with the car. If you do a lot of main road driving and dual carriageways then the torque of the diesel is far better then the petrol, ignore 0-62 times as in the real world they mean zip! Nobody does 0-62 on the road, what you do a lot of is 30 to 50 to 70 and normally in higher gears and the diesel is the better choice.

On the other hand if you do as lot of pleasure driving with the car (as you use something else for work) then you may find the petrol more to your taste for b-road blasting and general mucking about.

Try both and see what you think.
