I know that the online configurator is under going so re construction which is why the thing is not working 100% at the moment.

That image of the DS3 looks like an early press image judging by the fact it has the first production grill surround fitted.

I'm pretty sure that that matt black image was appearing when I was playing around with the configurator looking at the plus special editions models not long after they were added. So maybe it's just a standard image for when things break during construction as pointed out by BigFeet.
