  • hello and a few questions

first off would like to say new to the site and HI !!

I have been looking around for a new car and have decided on the the ds3 1.6 thp sport plus. citroen are currently doing a deal with £1500 towards your deposit on elect 3 which would mean the plus extras only costing £585 above the standard sport spec as that only attracts £1000 towards the depsoit.

    my questiosn are

    1. Is the plus worth it over the standard for the extra £585
    2. what sort of mpg are owners getting driving sensibly with the od blat  never trust manufaturers specs.
    3. in real world use are the ds3's useable ie family car?
    4. from your experiences how much should i try and haggle off being realistic.

    Any advice appreciated.

    thanks

    4. beat them with a stick ! they messed up on my wheels and it took 3 months for um to get me rite ones so i hav new tyres at their expense so push them tell um u got other cars in mind .
    good luck

Not Sure About The Other 2 But I Can Answer These...

"2. What sort of mpg are owners getting driving sensibly with the od blat never trust manufaturers specs." - THP Owners Are Getting Between 30 - 50 MPG Going On Most Of The Posts On Here...

"3. in real world use are the ds3's useable ie family car" - Simple Answer: YES !

      =)

When seriously making progress about 28mpg minimum, and driving whilst sucking a Werthers original, wearing my slippers and cap i've got between 50-60mpg. This is the most economical petrol car i've ever owned, and with 210bhp the 2nd fastest

          Pictures, or it didn't happen!

Seriously, 40 mpg is easily attainable even with "spirited" driving. My average over the last 10k miles is 42, and that's with lots of B-road blatting and fast commuting on the A11/A14.

I reckon the DSport plus is decent value on the PCP deals (essentially it's a DSport with city pack and leather pack), especially if you would have added a city pack at £400 odd quid to the regular model anyway. You're basically getting the leather for hardly any cost. The higher residual means (I think) I'm actually paying less per month than the standard Dsport!?

The easiest way to get a discount is to look at an online broker. I know people on here have different opinions on the online broker thing, but in most cases all they do is put you in touch with a regular main dealer. Your local dealer might be more willing to negotiate than mine, though!

well I have gone and done it !! went to the local dealers today and test drove the 1.6 THP Dsport and absolutley loved it, also test drove the Nissan juke earlier which could not compete with the ds3 on any level in my opinion.
Took the wife with me and what did she see sitting in the showroom an obsidian black Dsport with a zebra spirit roof, not my cup of tea but she loved it and as she will drive its just as much as me i bowed to her better judgement, the car also had the city signature and shiny black kit. I did want to get the dsport + but thats was an 8 week wait and after talking to the wife she like me did'nt really want to wait that long and with the used car residuals dropping like mad on my renault grand scenic 2.0 petrol auto i thought by the time sept comes along it probably loosing another £300 or more on the deal plus needs servicing now and thats another £200.

So went and haggled got £800 off and Supagard thrown in, would not budge on adding the service pack into the deal, I know supagard is cheap to do yourself but thought its ok for nowt.

Now I am home I am thinking im sure I could have got a better deal somewhere as this is my first brand new car I was not sure what deals i may get maybe an online broker but always worry about things like that, face to face and a hand shake goes a long way for me.

Glad to hear you got your self sorted Kingo, don't worry about the 'did I get the best deal' as everybody does that!

As long as you are happy with what your dealer sorted out for you is all that matters.
