  • Alloy gators

I purchased some white alloy gators last week and contacted the company to ask a few questions. They contacted me and suggested i visit their headquarters which is only 10 miles from my house.

When i got there the father and son (chris & curt) who invented the products were great and fitted a white set to the DS3 and a black set to my mercedes. They explained that on certain combinations of alloys & tyres the gators are moving away from the tyre this includes the 17in bellone alloys on the DS3 and have asked me to monitor the movement and return the car this week. They have a modified gator arriving in the next few weeks which they hope will rectify the problem and I have agreed to try these out when they get them.

The gators on the front have moved slightly but the rears are fine. I personally think they look great on the car and people have commented how good they look (see images). The black ones on my car haven't moved at all.

If anyone is thinking of buying some Curt has suggested you wait until they get the results from the modified versions which i will try out.

They cost £59 for a set of 5 and the company is based in Studley Warwickshire. As i mentioned previously the company have a modified version arriving in the next couple of weeks which i am going to test so it is best to wait until then before ordreing some. The existing ones are moving slightly on the front alloys.

Glad you like them one member thinks they don't make much difference i think he is colour blind lol

I kinda agree with Rick here.. in the pictures at a glance, particularly the 1st and 4th picture.. They do kinda blend with the chrome and don't stand out much.

That's not a bad thing though. At the end of the day they're there to protect the wheel

The gators probably look better in the flesh i parked the car next to a white DS3 yesterday and the gators really seemed to stand out, and as you said they are there to protect the alloy and cover up existing marks. The black ones would hardly be noticeable.

i was told a remodel was needed for the gators last year as Etyres were supposed to fit mine then they took them off sale coz of the seperation probs. Hope they work it out as one of my students tried to pick a fight with a Steam Traction Engine at the weekend. End result one scuffed tyre. Mind you I was just glad that I still had a car!

The remodeled version should be fitted on my car in the next couple of weeks. The rear gators are still fitting well after a week the front ones have seperated upto 6/7 cm in places.
