  • Slight Problem

Went to check with my insurance company how much extra it would be to insure the ds3.

Turns out the dSport Plus HDI is not one of the choices in the list of models they had. The dSport Plus Petrol is there but no HDI.

Thought I would check online but still no dSport Plus HDI.

I placed the order in May when the model came out so surely it would be up by now

I can't even get the 7 day cover since I'm not 21 until August, and can't check via the registration plate since it's not processed the registration plate !!!

Suggestions, apart from delaying in picking the car up on Friday lulz

Can you not just get it insured as "dsport HDI". I mean is it only the plus bit that they dont have? have you tried other insurance companies?

You can explain to them your car is based on the DSport but has some factory fitted options as standard. I had some similar discussions when sorting out my White SE.

The insurance company I'm with at the moment did this automatically and offered me a nice cheeky premium of £5000 LOL !!

I will need to speak to Citroen and get the 7 day insurance one way or another and then hopefully in a couple of days the registration will show online and I will be able to select whatever model they have it set as.

Alternatively as you guys mentioned, go with the dSport HDI and then select the optional extras - I did this online and the qoutes were lower than my Fiesta which is even stranger, alas there is no logic in insurance just some guy going "£10000 for a corsa... £30 for an aston... £5000 for his dsport" lol.

well, i rang to get the 7 day cover note from citroen but they wouldnt give me it as i didn't have 5 years no claims. (i have been driving for 8 years but never had insurance in my own name - just always been a named driver. In the end tho, AXA used my 8 years named driver as a 5 year no claims discount)
So as you arent 21, and wont have 5 years no claims, they maybe wont give you the citroen cover??
I dont mean to worry you lol, just a thought!

            I know

Will need to let the salesman know tonight when I go over to sign my life away though, so that they know they are offering a model of car that isn't available on price comparison websites yet lol, and I hope that inspires him to help get me the 7 day cover lmao !

those price comparison sites do my nuts in... best quote i got on it was sumthing like £770 but then called in to see AXA and they sorted me for £533 - not bad for 1st insurance on my own!

I'm on confused.com changed the dates from 1st august (the expected pick up date originally) to the 8th june and it only went up 30 quid. Working out at either £950 lump sum or £110 a month which isn't too bad tbh, I'm paying more for the Fiesta !

whatever companies giving you the cheapest quote, ring them and see what they can do - they should bring it down a good bit as you're going directly to them.

                      Hi

I had the same problem the other week, mine is the dsport plus petrol and the insurance did not know what a 'plus' was and asked if i was sure it was a 'plus' lol i have just checked online now its registered and using my reg it just comes up as a standard dsport, so it prob dont make a big difference anyway, but i did get my insurance company to change it on the documents to state + cos you never know, they'll try owt to get out of paying if god forbid i ever have an accident and have to claim.

Even if it stays the same I will be happy to be honest since they have to mess about with it if it model isn't showing up. Bit of a joke they don't have it on any website anyway considering the petrol equivalent is sitting there on the sites.

Thanks for this Clair. You are right to be cautious I am the exact same. I know it is basically a dsport with the optional extras but even just a difference in name would be enough for them to throw a claim out, that's why I'd rather have in writing than fill out a form kind of 'dodgy' online.
