Having waited 16 weeks for my 110HDi DSport I must say the wait was well worth it.
I’ve been treating it like kid gloves and apart from one occasion have been light of foot. After my last car (a Wicked Red 2003 C3 Exclusive) I am acutely aware of the horrendous cost of any repair or replacement on modern cars, having been charged £400 for a headlamp replacement, quoted £850 for a new clutch etc etc. It’s fair to say, though, that the C3 lasted well and its clutch lasted 110,000 miles, the battery 90,000, and it still had the original exhaust at 130,000.
My gentle treatment has given about 60mpg (from the on-board computer) so far. Not bad for a new engine.
The only very minor niggles are the dust magnet black dash, the lack of drinks holders and storage generally, the god awful position of the 12v socket/USB/Aux, meaning leads dangling right across the dash. The wipers judder a bit but that could be down to the GuardX. There is a noticeable transmission whine at certain revs and I find I have messed up the change from 4th to 5th a couple of times due to more than the usual amount of pressure being required. As I spend a fair amount of time waiting in the car I find the lack of an accessory position on the ignition switch a bit annoying. I am assuming it is alright to turn the ignition on if I want to use the 12V socket for my Pure Highway DAB radio, for example.
As I wanted economy from a car that is practical and head-turning, but I also wanted some grunt for overtaking, I have found my ideal car.
