  • I'm new!,Quick Question..

I picked up my new DS3 on Tuesday, VTi White-Black Dstyle plus and after driving it for 2 days I have to say I love it!!
One thing I've noticed though is the accelerator clicks at the point just before the pedal hits the floor..
I've noticed that this click stage is, for want of a better expression, where the speed limiter is 'over-ridden'.

Just wanting to know if this is what the click in the pedal is there for,or whether this is just coincidence and that there is something wrong with the pedal.

Have to say I was slightly nervous before getting the car because the THP was slightly above my budget but no regrets! I love it as it is and it really looks the part!! I know its not got the turbo but it certainly isn't slow!

Anyways cheers for replies in advance..

You're correct, pressing past the click point overrides the speed limiter. Nothing to worry about, that's what it's designed to do, not sure whether it does anything else though!

Kickdown for the automatic models/cruise/speed limiter if memory serves me correctly. Perfectly normal.

As the others have said the click is normal and part of the speed limiter system, the reason for it is you can over ride the limiter when you need too and the click is designed to let you know that you have pressed the safety switch.

Is this the same on the 110 HDI?
My pedal goes what seems to be fully down, but then if you push really hard is goes a further inch?

Never noticed it on mine, I assume you've checked there isn't any trim/mat/carpet blocking the travel of the pedal ?

                    Nope,
                    Nothing blocking the pedal.
Have to push hard, and I didn't notice this for over a year.

I'll give it a go later, so when the speed limiter is engaged yeah ?

Well I tested this on the M25 yesterday coming out of the variable speed limit section, worked as said above !!

Its normal to have yo give it a really good push. Its an over ride really so designed not to be too easy!

Likewise, its primary use for me is to tell me that if my girlfriends in the car I'm going to fast..

I use it a lot in variable speed limits on the m25 and when passing speed cameras
