I have a member of TT Forum since 2004, where most of the guys and gals on there are friendly helpful members, there is a minority on there who have purchased their TT's second hand and suddenly think they are top of tree.....

I'm a car enthusiast and if I like a car I like a car regardless of what badge it wears.

I was on there praising the DS3, but some decided to get a cheap laugh. As for " Chaving up " some TT Forum have ruined their TT by " Chaving it up "

You're always gonna get people that hate this hate that on other sites, but thats why they've bought the car they have

Being a mechanic ive driven 100s of different cars and can find fault with them all ie. the g/f has a Mini Cooper S and the steering is so heavy its tiring, but the speed prompted me to sell my Clio 200 as it felt slow even though the 200 with its black roof and wheels and massive red Brembos really stood out on the road

Im sure ill find things i dont like about the DS, for instance im not 100% sold on its back end and i hate the chrome but i like the THP and the interior!

Obviously a minority will put the DS3 down on "their" car forum because by saying the DS3 is good is like saying they bought the wrong car .

Im not big up on cars, but I go for ones that "I" like the look of, that works better for me and what I use it for, and what I can afford. Not gonna start saying, this is crap and you have to be a chav to own that. If the car you have works better for you and what you use it for, then Cool, Whatever, makes no difference to me if people dont like my DS3, thats there choice and I still dont care

In my view people who knock other cars / people's choices are just on the whole insecure with themselves, needing re-assurance all the time. Reminds me of school, and some just choose never to grow up (same principle with the 'keep up with the Jones' brigade' who are more bothered about what others think rather than what is right for them). As Graham has said, most posters tend to be helpful....

There's a bit of snobbery in everyone who's the slightest bit interested in cars and you can't really deny that. I don't mind saying I wouldn't be seen dead driving a Mini. I think they're incredibly ugly and though I've never driven one, the seating position in the front is horrible; the windscreen is just weird. I don't think they're anything special cos there are so many of them, mostly driven by older women who remember the original and think the new Mini is "funky." Also...anyone who ever refers to a car as "funky," or "groovy," needs to be shot!

I photographed a track day a few years ago for Alfa and they'd brought along two Breras tuned by Prodrive to show off...guess which two cars broke down before the day was out. Not exactly a shining example of build quality. I've got a photo somewhere of one of them being towed away by a Fiat Multipla.

There's a lot of hate against Citroen, and most French cars to be honest, but that mainly comes from people who've never had any sort of experience with them. I'm on my third car now and my third Citroen. The only problem I've had was the passenger window on my DS3 stopped working a few weeks after I got it and it was replaced straight away.

As regards the DS3, I think a lot of those people slating it on the other forums are jealous of all the good press it's received. Simple as that.

I think Graham and Clive sum it up both very well.

When you make a choice on a car/PC/Console/etc. you make a decision to show loyalty to that brand, and in most cases you will defend your decision to the hilt and poking fun at the rivals is one way of bolstering the decision of your purchase.

A lot of the comments made on the other forums bear the marks of people who haven't taken the time to understand the Citroen brand and follow very well trodden paths of stereotypes, which unfortunately shows a lack of experiance in my opinion.

At the end of the day we all buy into something for different reasons and if others want to say the DS3 is ugly or stupid or cheap or whatever I know that there bands of loyal Citroen Fans who will rise their flag in support of their cars.

To be honest if a bunch of hairdressing ponces form the TT salon were to like the DS3 I'd have to seriously consider my decision .

Each to their own - I like a bit of variety - have just about tried every type of vehicle out there - currently on a run of two French cars (Clio 200 - DS3) and have been pleasantly surprised with both.
