  • Reasons to buy a DS3?

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post, so Hello to everyone!!

So, im on the lookout for a new car. I was going to get a Alfa Mito, nice car but I'm looking at all my options. I was speaking to a friend who said they had got a DS3 and they are very happy with it.

I popped into my local dealers in Rotherham and went out for a test drive. I drove the 110 Diesel and was impressed. I love the design and have been playing with the website with colours, Alloys etc.

Is everyone happy with their DS3 - why did you buy yours?

    Any downsides?

I drive 47 miles a day (60% Motorway), so I need economy over perforamnce - what are the lower powered Diesels like??

Has anyone bought one with the Plane Spirit Decals - I REALLY love it, but I'm 43 and I'm not sure I should be driving a car that looks like it's come out of 2000 AD!! (It does make me smile though).

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,

    BBJ

Im happy with my ds3 90hdi

its easy to drive on motorways when trying to over take.

mpg i get about 60mpg, could do with a 6th gear so i would get the 110hdi
    sigpic.

      Welcome!

I love my DS3 - over a year later she's still a charm to drive. I've got the 120vti as I was dubious about a diesel, having never owned one and not being able to test drive one. A Mito was one of my options prior to my lovely DS3.

One of our members has the plane decals (if these are the same) Thread is with some photo's here.

No downsides from me (oh, apart from my 4+ hrs cleaning sesssions, my Dad asked me last weeekend if it has now become an obsession, I think he was actually concerned)

          Thanks for your replys.

Probably go with 110 as 70-80 Mpg is crazy!!

I've had testdrives in AUDI A1 (very German....& borning), New Yaris (No!!), don't like retro looking cars like the fiat 500 etc. I really do like the Mito, but I think I may have got the DS3 bug as I really want one.

What do you think about the Decals as I'm in 2 minds!!

I might go with a DSport, Manitoba Grey with Onxy Black (+ Decals possibly).

I have the 90bhp diesel in mine - cannot get anywhere near 70mpg (let alone 80). 60's not a problem for me, which will be quickish A-roads and dual carriageways.

I use mine for driving instructing - the economy suffers somewhat on lessons, down to 48mpg! Performance around town for learners is excellent with its good torque. Although it is somewhat breathless if you use the rev-range - you should maybe consider the 110bhp version.

For me, the car I chose to teach in was important in that I wanted new drivers to get in it as opposed to my competitor's vehicles (Clios and Fiestas). I still think its one of the most distinctive cars around - and its put together well too which is a bonus!

Plus, you'll often get a wave or headlight flash from another DS3 driver!

Bear in mind the Manitoba Grey is really green in real life and that the roof decals are NOT covered by the Citroen Warranty.

Get the Thorium grey with black roof. Excellent combination.

I've gone from an Audi TT to a Sport Plus, and can honestly say i love the DS3. Citroen have got this car just right, good build quality, a long with the use of quality materials in the cabin makes this car a winner.

Great drive both around town and on the motorway, and excellent mpg.

I originally placed an order for Dsport 110Hdi in Manitoba grey with white roof, spirit decals and black alloys, as Biggie says, it does have a green hue to it, but it also has a kind of matt look about it too, something which I thought went very well with the white roof and decals. I eventually cancelled it and went for the racing, but if I were to have the choice again but with no Racing in the equation I would go for this........................

I've had a few issues with my DS3R which are now hopefully sorted, but that aside the DS3 is a brilliant car!

Don't let your age be a deciding factor on how you want the car, I'm 42 and have never grown up!

i test drove the alfa mito before the ds3, i got talked into driving the petrol turbo version as the saleman said the diesel was slow and rubbish - how that happened i dont know? anyway i love the look of the mito but it was a bit black plasticy inside and the petrol engine was slow unless you kept it in sport mode which in turn got you about 29 mpg. test drove the ds3 of my choice - the diesel, and bought one! jobs a gud un!

i never buy the same car twice so the next car for me will prob be an audi a1 or a mini.

                        BBJ,

Drive whatever you want mate! Don't even consider what others think!

If you want a custom made bright pink one go for it.

I bought mine because I loved the look of it and it drove nicely too.

                        Regards,
                        Clive.

ps I'm older than you and considered a Jag XF, I drove four Seat Leons one after the other, three of which were the current shape, most of my previous cars were Audis...
                        - people would have expected me to buy/drive the XF, however they are free to drive whatever they want, so I will do the same! and that is despite whatever the family think! (they are well looked after anyway!)....

                          Hi Guys,

Thanks for your suggestions and observations - DS3 it is!! Not ordering just yet as I'm still unsure about the colour, mate's just called me tonight and he saw a black one near where he works and he said it looked stunning.

Going for 110 - the 6th gear sounds important - I love the black alloys as well. Not going for the Decals though, call me borning :-). I'm going to get on on lease - where do you think the best place to go is - dealer or somewhere else?

I want one NOW!! I can honestly say, I'm really quite excited.

                          Cheers,

                          BBJ
