When the centre dial is showing a temperature and the air direction controls are off and fan are off , what's happening ?

When the centre dial is showing a temperature and the air direction controls are off and fan are off , what's happening ?

Take it you have the Climate control system, all that is happening is that car is heating the intake air to the temperature shown on the display, air is still flowing into the cabin but is not being directed or assisted.
