Winter tyres

Bit premature i know but have any of you guys got any good suggestions for some winter rubber for the Dsport ?

I'm thinking of trying snow socks this year rather than shelling out for a new set of rims & winter tyres. The Potenzas seemed OK last year in the cold/wet - just lousy in the snow.

Not keen on fitting winter tyres onto the existing rims & then swapping over again in the spring - it's not as cheap a solution as it sounds (places round here charge at least £10+VAT a corner just to swap them over).

If I could have found a cheap set of Bellones on eBay, I'd have been tempted to buy them & put a set of winter tyres on them. Thanks very much Zack, you lying toad!!

i know that costco are sellin Michelin snow chains for about £40 .......might just invest in some of those instead.

snow tyres are a very good investment especially if it snows as bad as last year. ive seen pirellis on the web for £150 to fit dsport which is a fair price. i had a company car last year so i coulds get to work and back with snow tyres and you can basically drive as normal without any risk of getting bogged down or stuck. well worth the investment. think how much it would cost to replace a damaged wheel on a kerb or a bumper etc. shop around alot of garages will fit for free.

I have just got a set of Marangoni Meteo HP from mytyres (£400 plus fitting) put on dsport, guess abit early but last year prices started shooting up when got colder, plus mainly using company car but when have driven it they feel fine.

Continental wintercontact... Was good on Leon FR and Impreza STi. This year we're using Pirelli Sottozero's and atleast i know that they work on dry and wet surface (no snow nor ice yet).

Well I thought the RO50A were ok last year, but there abit expensive. So am running on toyo proxes T1R's now! All the review's say there a good all-round tire il let you know ?!

Im pretty sure he meant winter tyres when he said "some winter rubber for the Dsport "... I wouldn't say RE050a is any good on snow or ice... Atleast RE070 were shit on ice.

As any summer tire, and to all of you who think there ok, go slam on your brakes on snow next to a car with winter tires and see who stops first by a long long way.

i just bought 4 steel wheels and will be buying 4 Hankook winter tyres for £280 saves having someone like kwik fit ruining my alloys swapping tyres over

Kwik fit have done my tyres onto new rims couple times
No problem
Even dropped the price after a bit of haggling- 4 tyres onto rims, balannced, £50
