  • Broken front passenger seat

Lifted handle on passenger seat to allow someone in the rear of my car, and now the seat or back rest won't lock back into position, and the seat just moves back and forth when driving.

I have had to fasten the seat belt to stop the seat sliding forward....not happy at all..begining to question build quality this is only about the fifth time someone has been in the rear seats, and it's broken.:confused::mad:

Had something like that once. The back wouldn't return after tilting forward. I set it using the back rest adjuster again and everything was fine. Hope it helps

I've had this a couple of times too - the interaction between the 'rear passenger escape' lever and the backrest adjustment lever gets itself in a knot.

I seem to remember what I did last time was hold the seat back in the desired position and operate the lower lever, and everything went back into place.

Same again, best thing to do is use the slide adjuster to move the seat forward, then try tilting the seat back. See this a lot when people have the front seat slid backwards all the way and then use the tilt action to allow access.

Happened to me when I first had the car... Are you using the slider to get in? because it should only be the tilt lever on the top of the seat to be used when getting someone in the back. Else it gets all confusing wen you try and put it back.

Glad to hear you got it sorted!

I made this vid a wee while ago about how to use the seat correctly, can't remember where it can be found so here it is again!

Hi all, my front seat seems to be broken, the lever that adjusts the tilt of the top half oft the he seat seemed jammed, although the handle on the edge of the seat seemed to work to get access to the back seats when the lever was lifted fully up as in the video on here, after trying to reset it by manoevering the seat flat, forward & back, I retried it and the lever (to adjust tilt of seat back) came off , revealing the spline and a lot of plastic stuff, there was a spring too which had a red painted tip on it, I couldn't see where this spring fitted and on fiddling with it the thing snapped, now I can adjust the seat back by turning the spline with mole grips but now the top handle doesn't do anything. Any ideas ? This is starting to get me down.
