Don't feel as though it's worth it for me. Will be doing about 8k miles a year and the service interval is 2 years or 20k miles and I understand from previous threads that the first service is circa £199.

There's also a recommended, but obligatory, "annual service", which is included in the service deal. It's really nothing more than a thorough check of the vehicle, but the book gets stamped . . . looks good when you come to sell the car.

A diesel is ok for london surely. I've been using one as a driving school car for ages and that is all stop start short journeys with no problems whatsoever.

As for London dealers go somewhere else. Citroen Sportif in Aylesbury are ok and Worleys in High Wycombe all easy for you on the train.

Sat nav no problems unless you have the shortest lead in tomtom history. Again mine was plugged in while learners changed gear and moved around on the seat etc. Save the £120 and buy some chrome, lol

Well the Germans at VW make you sign a warranty disclaimer on the diesel particulate filter if you live in London and don't drive it at least 30 mins on open roads once a week, so they told me. I test drove an Audi A1 and salesman said 'clearing' the DPF by a 20 min motorway drive only works a few times, then the filter fails. I can't believe a DPF is too different in a french or german car?
My car gets left undriven for a week on a regular basis.
I would prefer a diesel but was advised against it and the dealers all seem to think bad idea.

I think most cars these days have some sort of reliability issues. Too may electronics running them.

My next door neighbour bought a Jag from new and that's been back and forth to the dealer God knows how many times.

I think that you'd have the same decisions if you were thinking of buying Japanese or Korean, French or German. At the end of the day millions of cars are produced and they can't all be perfect.
