Questions about gap insurance (or insurance in general)

So unfortunately a mate of mine from work has just had his car pinched while working. Making me a tad worried as i use the same car park.

I have insurance (of Course) and GAP insurance i got from the dealer. My only concern is what the GAP insurance will cover for. The price of the DS3 i own is now £1500 more on the configurator than what i paid thanks to various price changes and options that now aren't options etc. (E-Hdi and Satnav standard with HIFI kit etc).

I realise as desirable as the DS3 is, his silver focus was more likely to get nicked due to being so common (probably easier to steal).
The worst bit about this is you can physically SEE a police station from where it was taken. Unreal!

Only you can answer that really. You need to check the insurer's website. But typical GAP insurance would cover a gap of up to £20k.

I wouldn't worry too much though. I doubt your's would be knicked.

What was your mate's Focus? An older model I take it.

GAP or RTI will cover the diff between your invoice price on the car less what the insurers give you if it's nicked or written off. You need the upgraded RTV insurance to cover you for theft or write off for what the same model is worth now but can only take it out up to 90 days after buying it.
I checked insurance quotes on DS3, Mini and Audi A1 and the DS3 is the highest by £40, presume because there is no factory fitted alarm and immobiliser on the D Style+ model.
I can't see too many thieves picking such an unusual model as the DS3. Joyriders maybe

cheers. im a tad after 90 days for the plus insurance :rolleyes:. no ideas what one ive got exactly as i got it from the citroen dealer. His car was an 05 and beat up. Dont know about you but i always feel safer parking my car if more expensive cars are around it lol.
