I have contacted a few dealers, and I am looking at about £11K from most of them.

I was incorrect with my figures, we bought the car for £13,500 in April, so I've readjusted my expectations a bit.

One dealer even said that they would look to retail it for £12,500 and thus would offer £11K

So 1.5K for what? Feels a bit pants.

On a similar note, I bought a car for £13495 this year, and had to sell it on a few months afterwards - it's now up for sale at a dealer 200 miles away for £14,495! That was after I drove it for 3 months and put 3K on it's clock...
Did a deal last week for a new DSport+ and traded in my wifes White/black Sept 10 (14 month old) DStyle 1.6VTi with many packs/extras and 9k miles for £11205 and is on dealers forecourt for £12495 if that helps you to value it as is a similar car.

      VAT?

I thought you said you only sold a car once 7 years ago? Whats with the panic buying & selling?

For dealers VAT is only usually payable on the margin made, not the selling price.

Good help as always Biggee! I think 11k is decent for your car! I thought my white edition hdi 11 plate would be worth less than that? so 11k is decent

I sold my 200 to a buyer from 'The Car People', i got his number via another trader. That had finance on it so they settled that

Ill prob do the same with my DS in 6 or so months

I think you'll struggle to sell a £12k car privately, as most people need finance etc to fund it, which you cant offer

Thats true, dealer must pay VAT on the margin made on any used car.

Other factors to bear in mind is that the dealer must complete a 'Providence' check on the car, the car must also be prepared through the workshop for the approved used car scheme, any SMART repairs, Valet and then factor in costs such as the approved car warranty and road tax. So looking at the £1500 mark up about a third of that will be lost to cover the above and another third again will be lost in NTI pricing or Over Allowances.
