  • +models only have set colours, anybody know the reason?

I'm just wondering if anybody knew the reason why the + models were set colours. Upon trying to order my DS3 the brochure showed White, Blue, Red, Black which even the dealer I spoke to thought was correct. Went all through the quotes etc, and turned out that only the DStyle+ was available in the lovely blue colour, and that the DSport+ had yellow instead.

Does anybody know the stupid reasoning behind this? Luckily Citroen didn't replace white on the Dsport+ with bright neon pink, but still just seemed like they were trying to stop people being unique as all the marketing hype had.

Also, anybody know how much a decent respray would be so I can have the sexy shiny blue colour?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I guess, but it just seemed like the blue was nicer. The dealer tried to convince me that red or yellow were just as good for my £400... Or to have a blue Dstyle+ and they would remap it for me... Apparently the dealers are now offering remaps?

Just seems like if they all go through the same build process then it shouldn't be that hard.

Nope, my Dealer at Borocars said to me it was new to their garage and that they would do it.
I'm not sure if he just wanted to get rid of stock for a quick sale, but he assured me he could get it remapped in warranty and it would be 109bhp.

Suppose If They Signed Something Saying It Was Still In Warranty Then That Might Be Plausible...

I was shocked too, as I was under the impression any remap would invalidate the warranty. Regarding the colours, ta-da!
I got the one on front wrong, it was white, blue, red, yellow. But models show it...

Re spec up, it seemed like a waste of money.
I was more annoyed about the advertising, the blue is so nice! Got second choice of colour, just think it's going to be a bugger to clean.

It's called the 'Starbucks' effect, where customer are given too much choice they tend not to order or having trouble deciding on what to order. Try going into a Starbucks and just order a coffee!

The other main reason is to do with stocking, dealers have a hard time stocking the right version of DS3 for stock and it causes long waiting times for customer (most of whom are far too impatience), so by having a 'stock' version of the DS3 it allows dealers to stock cars that customers want and reduce waiting times. Many dealers use these versions to 'put off' customers from ordering at the factory so they can control the lead times better.

On a side note your dealer is talking out of his arse if they claim to be able to remap your car and still having it fully covered by the Citroen Warranty - try getting them to confirm that in writing from Citroen

Ah! Thanks for the heads up Big. I'll see if I can get a letter stating they'll cover it.
I didn't end up ordering from them as they quoted £18k for it so may be awkward walking in there.
