So got home from a trip into town no more than 10 miles round trip and as I pulled up the drive there was a strong smell of burning so much I thought great someone's having a fire and the Washings out. Got out of my car and there was no smell.... Oh. Popped the bonnet and there was smoke coming up from the bottom of the engine and smelt like something was smouldering. So I pressed the Citroen button and explained and I had an AA man out within half an hour. He eventually said it was because the car was so new!. And as I was told when I picked the car up three weeks ago to expect a smell of burning, but why was it smoking and why on such a short trip when I have done much longer and at much faster speeds?

Didn't You Know ?
New Cars Often Catch Fire... It's Because They're So New...

Think we will need a wee bit more information to be able to offer any advice, most likely to me is that the smoke is residue being burnt off the exhaust system and that the CAT is settling in....I should never have doubted the Lord of Bacon!!

Faster you go the cooler the air is as it passes through the engine bay thus it cools, that's why the radiators are at the
front of the car to benefit from air flow, if your last trip was a short in town journey in traffic that could be the reason
why the car was smoking everyone was just getting a bit hotter due to lack of air flow.

Right I was goin to post about this but didn't but seen As I'm not the only one check this because I believed it was a potential fire hazard , my car is a 110 d sport, I came home thought the same oh someone is having a fire but smoke under the bonnet !! Panic !! I looked down to what looks to be a heat shield front middle slight to the left and down bright silver, on it was a large sticker embering / smouldering ,smoke coming off it! I managed to get a stick and peel it off it fell through under tray to the floor and it was black! Smoke gone hazard gone, I believe this should have been taken off at production stage wasn't to happy , just thought would let you know so you can check , might be worth a call to citroen after all if yours turns out to be the same because it can be distressing seeing smoke from your new car lol !!Last edited by Probert993; 20-11-2011, 10:46.
