  • Fuel!

Just wanted to see what peoples average fuel consumption is (I know, how boring!) but I feel like I'm not getting very many miles out of a full tank which costs about £60. At the moment I'm averaging at about 400 miles. I have a 1.6 dstyle + and I've done nearly 1800 miles.

If this is normal then does anyone know any tips on how to make fuel last longer e.g. auto climate control, is it better on or off?

I am well please with mine (110 Diesel) typical MPG over a tank full, mixed driving is 54, on a 3200 mile trip to Rome and back I got a 58mpg average.

It feels all the better as I had a 4x4 before the DS3.

only 500km on the clock so still a tight engine etc but running average of 4.9L per 100Km 0r 57mpg pretty good
        considering crappy city commute

Agree with Adi - please don't use different colours

This subject has been covered many, many times now, but the thing is that MPG is not an exact science. Everybody drives differently from the next person, what I mean is that if we all drove the same car over the same route I can guarantee that we will all come out with different MPG!

Best advice is not to drive with windows open as they cause drag, avoid carrying unnecessary items in the boot, make sure your tyre pressures are correct (check them when the tyres are cold only) and look at your driving style - do you brake too much because you're too close to the car in front or do you ride the clutch too much, even something as simple as being in the right gear can make a big difference. Air conditioning makes very little impact on a modern car these days, running with it off will raise your MPG but to the saving of about 10p per mile on average. Personally I like to spend the extra to be comfy in the car!

Anyway with all that said I tend to advise people when it comes to the 1.6 VTi engine that they should be expecting around 35-40 MPG on an average drive.

getting about 35mpg in the THP with some 'mixed' driving

                            About 310-325 miles from £60

Could get a lot better if I drove carefully but where's the fun in that

My 110 hdi has done 4,500 now and is regularly achieving high 50's but I do very little urban driving. The mpg figures have improved over the last 1000 miles but I also put some of this down to a concious effort to drive in a smoother manner. ADT has helped!
