I haven't tried it on the DS but I did with my Alfa 145. Doing the same trip, Anglesey & back, on two consecutive weekends & brimming the tank before & after, one weekend with the aircon on & one with it off, showed a negligible difference in fuel consumption.

I use aircon all the time - it's a matter of comfort & convenience. Life's too short to worry about a few quid's worth of petrol!

Chris yr rite mate AC uses more fuel that's why I turn the bugger off after getting comfy. But by opening the window that makes the car less aerodynamic n then you use more fuel.

AC can pump out warm or cold air. Historically Most people use Ac in the summer to keep cool.

AC should of course be used regularly so that the seals on the unit do not become brittle then have to be replaced.

Sounds like a good position from an Air Con manufacturer

For me, auto mode doesn't work great but I can forgive it for that as it is damn hot here. Generally if I use auto I will switch the air-con to 20.5C with 1.5 fan speed and press auto. It will then go silent as if the fan speed is naught and then does short blasts of high fan speed (about half a minute or so) and then go silent again. Not sure if that happens to you guys in europe but for some reason it happens to me. Note that I've only had the car since about the start of Summer here where it is consistantly in the mid 30's during the day with high humidity. Usually I'll just have it on 20.5 and fan speed 1.5 or 2 because auto gets really annoying and sometimes I miss a great bit in my music I have playing
