Hiya to you all. I've got a knocking noise coming from the front end. It sounds like my spring has snapped kind of noise. It only seems to do it at low speeds, and when you turn. I've changed the anti roll link and had the top mount changed. It kind of calmed down after it. But it's still doing the same thing. I'm stuck to what it is to fix it. I hope you all have had some dealing with it or know of anyone who has had the same issue.

When the springs break, they tend to go at the very top or very bottom where it may be difficult to see a break. One of my rears got flagged on the MOT, I had no idea it had gone as the ride height and comfort were as normal.

They took the leg off to change the top Mont and they said it was fine. But I've only changed one side. Do I need to change the other side as well. Cos it's still making the same noise. And I have asked someone on herer as they have had theirs changed. I don't know if it was one or both they had done?

Done my topmounts as they were worn. But had to double check a few weeks later as i thoughed i had wrecked one. Turned out the top left mount was faulty and had to be replaced. They are hard to find and not very cheap. The noise did stop when i sprayed (alot) of silicone spray like wd40 onto it. But always returned after a few days. Is it a THP?

It's a D sport plus air dream hdi. I had a Clio RS 200 and it had cup set up on it. So stiff springs. One had a large peace snapped off. And the DS3 sounds like it. But the springs seem OK. And it only seems to make a noise at low speed and only when I go over ruff roads speed bumps etc. So when I checked this site someone had the same problem as me. They said top mount was knackered. I've only changed one side. Do I need to change the other side to?

I would at least take it apart to have a look, you get to see the full length of the other spring in that case as well.
I did once have a stone trapped in my front suspension which made metallic squeals when driving over bumps and potholes, and clunked loudly when turning the steering rack. Thought I'd broken a coil but it went after a day.

I had this and it turned out to be the N/S drop link even though it sounded like it was coming from the O/S.
There was no detectable play when on the car and only a tiny bit once removed and in the hand.
I wish I'd had both replaced as a year later the noise is back. I'm guessing the O/S has gone rather than the N/S going again.
